Question about Honda VTX 1800 Motorcycles

1 Answer

I have over 110,000 miles on my Honda VTX 1800s and I have to buy a new speedometer. Is there any way to have my original miles on the new one? I am quite proud of my 110,000 plus miles.

Hi, Norris I know that Harley does that with their speedo's but you have to go through the dealership no online stuff for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. Fuel injection..Hard to start will not idle and pouring gas out the exhaust.2003 vtx

if this is a vtx 1800 then you need to look at the fuel pressure regulator, this is faulty and sending fuel up the vacuum hose, they are around £40 to buy and about an hour to fit. they play up any time from 6000miles,even know to one 2000 miles but was changed on warranty.

I have a 2003 vtx 1800s with hyper charger and custom exhaust dont know what kind bought it this way.The bike keeps fowling sparkplugs every 4 to6 hundred miles what is wrong with bike

You have a fuel injected motorcycle. It is made to work with a stock intake and exhaust. When you alter the stock system it does not know how to compensate for some of the conditions that will come up. Most people buy a Power Commander and program it to compensate for the changes that the stock system will not compensate for. If you already have a Power Commander then you should hook it back up the computer and reprogram it or look on line to see if there is a better map available for the changes on your bike. If you do not have a Commander get, get one. If you already have one, get your program disc and cables and re-map it or take your cycle to someone who can.

I recently bought a 2003 Honda Vtx 1800s. when I go in to a left turn the bike does not fill like it wants to take the turn. I do not have this problem turning right. no matter how hard I lean into the...

run a stringline around the wheels, check wheel alignment, check wheel bearings, tyre wear. swingarm bearings, bent handle bars, fork twist. stand back and see if it looks staight
some bikes will have some throttle effect when turning, if you thottle off, it may drop further into the corner, but check all others first, could be something dangerous

If the bike is fuel injected, the module should fix it. If the bike is carbureted, you don't need the module but you will need to re-jet the carb to enrich the mix.

Can you tell me what should be done on a 90,000 mile servicing for a 2005 honda Accord. I am getting different quotes from different dealerships/facilities. Thank you!

You need to have the cam belt & water pump replaced at 110,000 miles not 90,000. You should have the transmission fluid changed, brakes & all hoses inspected. The coolant should be drained, thermostat replaced and fresh coolant installed. Of course the air & cabin filter should be replaced every 30,000 miles. The fuel filter is permanent and needs no replacing. Brake fluid should be changed unless you have already had this done. Serpentine belt replaced at 110,000 miles with the cam belt.

I have 110,000 miles on my Honda Pilot 2004? all

Replace your Air filter, this is one of the most common problems. People forget to take care of it, when your SUV can't breath it uses more fuel to make up for the combustion loss. Buy a $12 filter and you should be good.

As far as the fuel filter, I would wait to see if the air filter was the problem, but a new fuel filter will help the cause.

Bike backfires and misses.

Run some Seafoam through the carbs. Should be available locally at a parts store. Mix with your gas according to directions. This will clean out the carbs, which sound like they are a little gummed up.
