Take off the 4 bolts on the head after you unplug the spark plug. then take out the c clips that are on the side of the piston where it connects to the crank oh ya if the cylinder wall is scarred then you will need to repair or replace it, but if not then keep following after you take out the clips the piston should come off im assuming you bought a rebuild kit now take the new piston and place the ring(s) on it then put the piston on the rod then slide the shaft inside the piston then put the new c clips on each side then place the cylinder on top of the piston (you will have to clamp the rings together with a special tool but if you dont have it your fingers will work fine then after you get the cylinder on you can put the bolts back in place then the spark plug wire and remember to break in the new top end by driving in first gear for a few hours.

Bike won't stay running

Sounds like You may need to look at a few things,

[1] Check Your fuel filter
[2] carbs may be full of dirt
[3] check for vacuum leaks
[4] carbs may need to be re-synced
[5] possible carb rebuilding time

Why is my alternator wire smoking?

The alternator for this bike has a built in regulator, which is probably on the fritz, and overcharging the system. You will need a new alternator or rebuild the one you have. Do it soon before it fries the electrics on your biike, and you have to spend major cash,..or it could cause your bike to catch fire!!

1996 Suzuki Katana 600 is leaking fuel out of the carbs. I adjusted the float bowls and cleaned them. Got new fuel line. Used silicone on the gaskets in the float chamber to strengthen them. Possibly need...

Hi,
That means you only adjusted the float and did not check the needle stopper/valve that stops the fuel flow going into the fuel chamber.
Check the valve if it needs to be replace or some dirt might hampers the sealing of the needle.
PLEASE DON'T USE SILICONE ON CARBURETOR( silicone dissolves when mixed w/ gasoline )!
Use a 3bond sealer.
Hope that helps you out!

Katana 600 not turningover i have good battery. what can i check next.

The starter must be bad, if the battery is good and it doesn't turn over.
You are going to want a manual for your bike. i personally like the Haynes manuals. They have good diagrams and pictures.

Hope this helps,

Can i get a frame with a title and register my bike under that frame and title with out rebuilding it?

You can do whatever you want so long as you don't get caught and convicted for falsifying state documents. Put your motor in the legal frame then register the bike with the new frame number and the current engine number.
