Stock pipes ? Sometimes you need to reprogram the EFI map when installing aftermarket pipes. Also could be a bad O2 sensor.

Your sucking in air on the induction circuit somewhere. Probably a split in a pipe around the carbs. This leans out te mixture and raises the revs.

08 gsxr turned off while idling and wouldn't turn back over

When the engine is idling, the alternator is not charging. Starting the bike will drain a weak battery. A fast idle (1000 rpm or so) will quickly recharge the battery. If the battery is dead and the alternator is not charging the bike will not run. Check the connections at the battery. Remove and clean them. Check the main fuse and all other fuses. (The temp indication may be a false reading due to other problems.)

My harley wont tick over or ticks over at around 500 rpm then stalls

The engine idle speed is set too low. If the engine is equipped with a carburetor, the idle speed stop screw is located at the top right of the carb. If it's fuel injected, the idle speed is set electronically and you need to take it to a shop to get it set a bit higher. It should be idling at 1000 RPM or so.

Good Luck,
Steve

Can you adjust the idle? Mine seems a little high at 1000-1100rpms. I would like it around 800-900rpms

You can if your bike is equipped with a carburator. If it's fuel injected, you'll have to take it to a dealer or someone with the means to change it as the idle speed is controlled electronically.

On the carb equipped bike, take the air filter cover off. Look just to the right of the square looking top on the carb and you'll see a screw. This is the idle stop screw. Turn it counterclockwise to slow the idle speed down.

Good Luck

I have a 2008 ultra classic all of a suden when you start it idle is high 20 thosand rpm any thing i can try befor . thaking it to the dealer. thanks rick e.

20 thousand rpm? I don't think so. Obviously you're reading the tachometer wrong. It may be idling at 2000 rpm. I agree that this cold start fast idle is a bit high for me as well. You have no choice but to take it to a dealer or an independent dealer that can change the setting in the fuel control computer for the cold start fast idle speed. There is nothing that is "user controllable" on the late model's fuel control system. Sorry.

Good Luck
