Remove the seat, remove the battery covers. Disconnect the negative cable first. Then lean battery outwards as much as possible and remove the bolt that holds the positive cable on the battery. The other end of the positive cable goes to the starter.

How to attach the battery cable to the battery

At the shop we undo the cable at the starter and pull the battery and cable out as one. Fasten the positive cable to the battery before installation, then snake the cable back in as we replace the battery, Those things are a real pain!

Change battery on 2005 nissan frontier wont start

Hi, If the problem is associated to you replacing the battery, then it could be a few different things. 1) Is the replacment battery fully charged? If not, charge and retry. 2) Are the positive and negative battery cables connected correctly to the battery? With this you have to be sure that you have a good connection to each battery terminal. Try removing the cables and taking a wire brush to the terminals. Once clean, reconnect them and try to start again. 3) Is the positive cable broken? If broken replace the cable. 4) Is the negative battery cable broken or properly connected to the car? If broken, replace the cable. Good Luck!

How do I remove the negative battery cable to remove the battery for charging on a 2008 1200 sportster custom?

You can charge the battery without removing the battery. Find the large cable that comes from the battery where it connects to the starter. Connect you positive charger clamp there. Connect the negative charger clamp to any good frame ground on the bike. You can charge you battery using this method provided you battery charger clamps are not too big.

If you can't do this, you'll have to take the seat off the bike, remove the battery hold down strap, and then move the battery outwards so you can disconnect the negative battery cable.

Good Luck

Replacing battery on 883 -- have an "extra"

If the cable came off the positive post of the original battery and the replacement battery is the same kind, it should reach. Sounds like you bought a battery that has "reversed" posts. The positive and negative posts are reversed from the way the original battery was. If so, you'll need to either take the battery back and exchange it or lengthen the cable.

One option is to take the large battery positive battery cable loose from the starter and connect it to that post along with the battery cable. Two wires running to the starter. It's the same as having two wires at the positive terminal.

Good luck

A month ago I bought A used 2000 elantra it used to start fpr the first try In the same time I changed the engine oil and Trying to put a good battery when I finished it did not start.

Verify (test) the battery is good/charged. Verify good, clean cable connections (positive & negative, correct polarity). Inspect positive and negative cables for loosness (positive cable condition to starter connection - clean/tight) negative cable condition to ground connection clean/tight). Replace/repair/clean/tighten cable(s) as needed. Did you remove/disconnect any components from the engine when you replaced the battery? If so, did you remember to put/reconnect them back?
