Waiting for ever for manual, so in mean time I've just bought 1992 Yamaha XJ900, what oil is needed plus quantities please?

10W40 semi synthetic is best the quantity is normally shown on the engine cover on Yams. My little yam and my Suzi SV have oil level windows in the right side engine cover. These show marks for low and full. Open the oil filler make sure the bike is upright and fill to the full mark,.start the bike run for a little while and recheck/refill as required. Keep checking over a few days just to make sure.

Most bikes 500cc and over have an oil capacity of approx. 3 to 4 liters.

Error code 1

does the bike still start and run ok or not, is it only when you first turn the ignition on, and does it have a power commander fitted? if all these are present its nothing to worry about yet, but get it checked if its bothering you. in my experience error codes 1 and 2 usually mean service is required but may not be true for yams

Tyre pressure on 0 3 r1 yam back and front

Hi, Anonymous for this scenario you will need your service/owners manual if you can't find the first and best tool you ever bought for your Yamaha, despair not, for a mere $0 you can download another one. Where is th dipstick on my yam r1

i dont believe it has a dip stick. it should have a circular sight gauge i believe on the aft right side of the engine. there should be a black plastic cap on top that you unscrew to add in the oil...but remember only fill it up 3/4 of the way, if you overfill a bike that could damage the engine. And always check the level on any bike with it standing up not on the kickstand. Can i get a very helpful thanks

Not worked on this model ,but I believe the alternator is fitted on a taper shalf ,and needs a puller .ask your local yam dealer if this is correct .

How to install an engine for a yamaha r1

Installing an engine is not something that can be explained in a paragraph or two. Get yourself a service manual and read it. Haynes manual number 3900 covers the 2000 model YZF, one place you can get it is Bike Bandit.
