Stalling problems with my 1986 Grand Marquis. It has been having problems accelerating right away after I'm at a stop and it almost feels like it's jumping into gear. It stalled out for the first time, started back up fine. Made it down the block and stalled again when I turned. I parked it and put it in neutral and revved the engine up and it sounded fine. Put it in reverse and it stalled when I was reversing. I kept trying to start it up to get a few blocks home to my house. But each time I started it up, it stalled sooner than the time before. The engine wasn't making much noise unless I was really putting on the gas, but other than that, no funny sounds were coming from it. Please help me!

Recently changed plugs on my marquis and it started stalling at idle and during acceleration. I thought maybe fuel filter so changed it. Problem still exists. Any ideas what the problem might be?

Is it possible that while changing the plugs you disconnected a vacuum line accidentally, or bumped a line that may have caused a crack in a dryed out vacuum line?

I have a 96 Mercury Grand Marquis. The car lurches while driving feeling like it will conk out. Usually when going uphill on the highway and trying to accelerate or maintain speed. This does not happen all...

I have a 96 Grand Marquis with a similar problem. Also on the highway it would just conk out on me suddenly, almost felt like I was hitting the brakes, then it would pick up again. Eventually got to the point where it was stalling out on the highway and at red lights. One day it wouldn't start. Mechanic said the fuel filter was clogged solid. It has run well but every once in awhile still stalls out on me. From talking with other Grand Marquis owners and the mechanic the Mass Air Flow sensor may be to blame. He wanted to charge me $400 but I found the part online for about $85.

2000 grand marquis air/heater fan internmitent. Check electric, but it all good. It works most the time, but sometimes quits for a day or two and then starts up again.

Sounds like you need to replace blower motor speed cotroller, located underhood right rear of engine on A/C / Heater case on firewall, rectangular in shape. When fan stops working tap on controller, fan should come back on then you will know that is problem. Have seen this many times on this vehicle. Hope this helps, have a good one!

86 Ford F350 Cold Start Problem

Does it have a carburetor or is it fuel injected? In 1986 it could be either way. It sounds like a carburetor with a choke problem.
