That is because there is still water, probably into the distribution system. Check that you do not have water into the distributor or you will have no spark. Check if there is spark on cables from distributor to spark plug. If there is no spark, test also ignition coil.
If the engine is diesel or an injection system you will also need to check that there is power from coil to the injectors , or the engine won't start. In that case the start motor will run by the way.

Test also wiring to ignition, if water caused a short on ignition wiring . You will nead to read volts using a car voltmeter tool, that can be purchased for few dollars at any car spares shop.

Unable to pull starter cord nu more then 4 inches I have removed the spark plug and released the pressure still the same what more can I do??

Dear Sir,
I understand that the engine seem jammed. Removing the spark plug was a good idea. This indicates that the engine cannot turn.
The only reason I think this happens, because the pump is jammed.
If with some method you separate the engine from the pump, you will for sure find out if the pump is jammed. Also you can release the pressure from the pump, if you have access to its valves and remove them. So trying to pull the cord with no load from the pump is the next thing you should do, with a few methods I have explained.

How to winterize an inboard/outboard boat motor

Flush the motor with fresh water, drain and refill drive gear with fresh oil , the same with the motor, remove spark plugs inject 10 ml of engine oil into each cylinder, turn engine over by hand so cylinder walls are coated, refit plugs. I then like to spray every thing WD 40. Remove the battery if you have a trickle charger connect it.

I got a '61 johnson seahorse 5 1/2 cd-18 and it's froze up. How can I free it up?

try removing the spark plug and filling the cylinder with break free oil . let set s few days then see if that freed it up . do not turn motor backward as that might destroy the waper pump impeller.

pretty much always know If spark is strong, means it is indeed a gas problem. Try removing all spark plugs and having somebody crank the engine. Look for gas fumes and spray. If not then you know you have probably a carburetor problem. try new, or a professional rebuild. Good luck

hey Chaser2
Have you tried to turn it over with the spark plugs removed and in neutral? This sounds "fishy".. remove the cowling... spark plugs OUT... try to turn it over.. see which way the flywheel tries to turn..THEN try turning the engine (KEY OFF/IGN OFF) by using your hand on the flywheel.. DO NOT turn it backwards,,,you will "kill" the water pump impeller.. IF you cannot turn the engine over by using the flywheel. you should be able to "feel' what's happening.. If you feel the pistons or rings are stuck... try liberally spraying some WD40 into the cylinders through the spark plug holes... reinstall the spark plugs and let it sit until tomorrow... If it is still locked up, you can always remove the head and see whats happening.. all you will need is a new gasket... and some Permatex 80064 High Tack Spray-A-Gasket Sealant. DO NOT use any form of silicone sealant - PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!

After you have sone all this, reply to me and let me know what you have found... thanks

Check fuel filter first to see if there is any trash or water clogging it up. Make sure the gas tank is venting and the fuel connections are secure. Check both cylinders for spark, the gap should be around .030". If motor cranks up and tries to die again pump the primer bubble to see if this helps, if it helps this would indicate a fuel pump problem, if not then the first thing I would do is clean the carburater which is more than likely what is wrong.

Mariner 25 hp 2 stroke hard to start then quits and won't restart

It sounds like the float is sticking in the carb. Since the carb is higher than the fuel tank it pulls the fuel in by vaccum of the engine. when running at high rpms, it can burn the fuel thats flowing into the carb, when you idle down, the bowl of the carb is filling up with fuel faster than the engine can burn it and causing it to flood. Then when it shuts off at idle it does not want to start back up because it is flooded. To make a long stary short, pull the carb and give it a good cleaning and your problems should be solved.

The jets quit working when I prime and attach the vaccum hose

you could have a leak in the vac hose or a shaft seal on the pump, if there is a wet spot under your pump there is a good chance the shaft seal is BAD.... some pumps are so strong you can starve the PUMP for water, the trick is to set your valve more towards the main drain./ hope this helps.. i'm your local pool pump motor repair guy
