Hi, Kdw911 works for me, for this scenario you will need your service/owners manual if you can't find the first and best tool you ever bought for your Yamaha, despair not, for a mere zero $0 you can download another one.

The CC's are on the bottom of the cylinders..cast into them.. should be on the outside, bottom where the cylinders meet the cases..
If you remove the head... this will define it.. the 350 has a bore / stroke, 64 mm × 54 mm (2.5 in × 2.1 in)

first off what country are you in ???? the 1979 rd 350 was an air cooled engine, same as 250 . the 1989 engine was water cooled with yamahas ypvs exhaust valve both very differnt in design although some frame and body parts cross over.the manual for the air cooled is: isbn 0 85696 505 7 . i dont have the water cooled number but could find it you require. the rd was exported under various different names ie: rd , rz , ypvs and so on. you can contact me @ hope this helps.

the oil in the frame is pumped into the crankcase, i had the same problem so i asked at the yamaha dealers. the dipstick on the frame is for checking the oil and the plug on the crankcase is for filling it with oil. I believe it takes about 1liter of oil from other posts but i could be mistaken

If it has lights, etc. it is most likely a DT250. If not it is likely an IT250
Google 1977 DT250 and look in the images to see if it matches your bike.

Oily watery stuff coming out off the exhaust, oil pump is set ok

is this bike a yamaha rd 350 twin cylinder 2 stroke? if so, its air cooled and you should not be getting a ltr of water.. but it is common for them to have a "oily" fluid come out the exhaust because it is a 2 stroke. but not alot. it comes from the engine not burning all the oil gas mix. does the engine spit and sputter? make sure there is no water in the tank, make sure the air filter is clean and buy hotter spark plugs. also adjusting the fuel air mixture may help. hope this helps...

Where is the 2 stroke oil tank on a 74 yamaha rd 350.

You are confusing yourself. Gearbox oil does go in via the dipstick. Engine oil goes in under the seat. The engine oil they are speaking of is called " TWO STROKE ENGINE OIL ". It is designed to mix with the fuel by being pumped into the carb intake system along with the fuel. Any motorcycle shop, auto shop, lawn equipment shop, gas station and many grocery stores and convience stores will have this oil.
