Question about 2006 Suzuki GSX 1300 R Hayabusa

One of the wires from my igniton was cut somehow and i think it grounded out and now tha bike isn't doing anything. I check all the fuses they are fine. is there anything else i can check?

Well first you need to verify if anything else was cut if not i would remove the harness off of the bike and inspect ur loom for melting or tampered spots

I have an electrical issue that is beyond me. How do I fix faulty turn signal?


I agree that there is a short.
what could have caused the short?
Has the truck been in an accident?
did you remove the dashboard?
or any other 'under the dash or in the steering column' work?

IMHO, i don't think the cat conv had anything to do with it; the cat is on exhaust mid-vehicle and wiring for items mentioned are in steering column and dashboard where light switch is located.
Unless the mechanics that did the cat work somehow damaged the steering column / ignition switch that may have caused a short... but that is a stretch.
I have not had to deconstruct my steering column or have to deal with the turn signal, so not sure if you have to pull the wheel off first to get at them or not. But if you do, study up on removal process or else you can 'activate' the air bag.

Since I do all my own repairs, this is how I'd go about figuring it out.
Call 5-star dealers until I find someone willing to have a conversation about my problem... find the know it all guy that has answers for everything that 'enjoys a challenge' like this. Don't limit your calls to local dealers... I have found guys that help me that are 3 states away!!!
Let him know that your a DIYer and need info. A lot of times they are willing if they have time. Don't call on Sat at 8 am during weekend service rush.
Ask lots of questions.
Have you ever seen this problem before? What do you think may cause this? Does this sound like a wiring short?
And you most likely will hear 'well i can't diagnose over the phone...'
So I always let them off the hook with 'I agree and not gonna hold you to anything said here, I'm just needing an expert opinion to brainstorm with'. works every time. Continue with questions.
Do i have to take wheel off to get to signal mechanism and or ignition switch?
Ask for stuff !!!!
Do you have diagrams available that I can get/download? Is there a website for exploded diagrams or wiring diagrams?
where can I get copies from a tech manual?

Once you get a lead, try his/her suggestions.
Since this is electrical will mean trying to find the short so you need the equipment and know-how to do that. Use internet if you don't know how to find a short..... Many youtube vids on this and other topics.

before you start taking things apart, do the easy stuff first.
Is the ignition switch damaged? do you have a 'key cluster' of weight that hangs on ignition?? had difficulty turning ignition or inserting/removing key form ignition? Do you start/stop via key hundreds of times a day? could the ignition switch be worn out !?!?!?

are you good at reading wiring diagrams?
Follow the wires that are causing the problems...
signal, headlights and ignition switch.
Look for the obvious first. Broken, pinched, partially cut wires, exposed wires contacting ground....
I wouldn't think that fuses could cause this problem,but check to see if all are ok.
Then I would try eliminating all problems by removing the fuse for the headlight and turn signals.
with fuses removed, start/stop with key switch with light on/off.
if successful, put in signal fuse.
start/stop again.
if successful, or not, try left signal.
remove signal fuse, put in headlight fuse.
start/stop with light on and off.
Does it continue to run until lights turned off?
use the left signal even if signal fuse is removed...
Try all different combos here, it may give a clue to the culprit.

Hmmmmm. Looking back, I think i would try to do as much investigation as possible (fuse check, wiring check and the 'fuse tests') prior to calling svc mgrs... it will give you some knowledge of what your dealing with so you can have an 'intelligent' conversation.

hope this may help somehow. Just kinda ramblin I know, but I can't diagnose it over the pho... internet. ;^)

On the other hand, you have the 'no fix' option.
You could just continue on with an 'interesting vehicle'.
Just make sure there are no police cars around when you don't use the left blinker. Or just take 3 rights.
And look on the bright side... with the weird light switch, you'd never have to worry about leaving your lights on!!!

Bike is blowing the starter fuse


Check all of your wiring. Sounds like there is a cut and making it ground out causing the fuse to blow to protect your bike.

2001 Honda VT 1100 C2 Shadow Sabre headlight cuts out


Hi, Jim if your headlight is not working, only one beam works, keeps burning out, blinking, dim or surges from bright to dim to bright the first thing you need to check is the headlight bulb for damaged filaments then check your light circuit fuse, then check your head light bulb socket ground wire for a clean tight connection, that being said the usual suspects are:
1. Faulty ground or power supply wire to headlight bulb socket.
2. Worn down solder contacts or loose fit of the bulb base in the socket due to vibration.
3. Worn, chaffed, or broken wires in the light circuit.
4. Corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets in wire connectors.
5. Faulty hi/lo beam switch.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Fuse is good but no continuity on both sides.
8. Faulty headlight relay.
9. Faulty wiring between battery positive and headlight bulb socket.
10. Weak charging alternator/generator/lighting coil.
11. Faulty voltage regulator/rectifier ground or overcharging.

My 04 zx6 will not turn over when i press the button it blows fuse and when i turn the key fule pump will not kick on what do you think it is and the bike was running all the owner did was swap frames and...


I think that when he swaped out the frame the wires didnt get put back right or one of them got damaged. Start with the fuse and find out what it goes to and check all the wires that go to it. It sounds alot like a short. When he put the wiring back on it he might have smashed one causing it to short out to the frame. I bet that whats going on and the fuse and the pump are probably connected somehow. If you can look at it and follw the wiring make sure that all you grounds and positives are monted on tight if they are loose you will get the same resaults. Checked fuses all of them r good the bike will not start has new battery


Check the safety switches, specifically the neutral detect and clutch safety.
If the bike thinks it's in gear, or that the clutch isn't pulled in, it won't start!
Check the wiring to the starter relay.

Yes, there is a fuse panel on the bike but I think that it's on the rear fender extension on that model. But, from what you are saying, it might not be the fuse. The horn is on a fused circuit with some other stuff as well. You do not have a single fuse dedicated to only the horn. Unlike a car, there isn't enough room on a motorcycle for this. The fuse that controls the horn controls other things as well and it everything else is working, then it's not the fuse. I'd test the wire at it's other end, the horn button. When you press the button, the wire to the horn goes "hot". Years ago, the wire going to the horn was "hot" all the time and when you pressed the button, you completed the circuit to ground. It was learned that any short in the horn wire would blow a fuse or discharge the battery so the design was changed. This was way back when the bikes were powered by a 6 volt system. Take the left handle switch housing apart and check the switch.

check all wiring harnesses where the wires are tight together it sounds like you just have another cut wire that you cant seem to find, and please mention if its the same fuse that keeps blowing or is it a different one every time, and if you find no cut wires then double check all the grounds.

Yes it has a main fuse, look for the starter solenoid, follow your positive battery wire from the Battery, it will hook to this solenoid or relay, this is where the main fuse is, it should have a red cover.

Replaced CDI cuts bike out when slightly moved or touched.


try to check your ignition coil.or your ignition switch might be grounded.

Power door locks, radio, power trunk lock and remote not working


unfortunately i can only fix the "alternator wine": all you need is a ground loop isolator. it hooks up to your RCA cables in between the radio and amp. the only thing i can think for your other problems is fuses, unless somehow your factory radio controls those functions
