I have 1989 jeep wrgler yj has been setting a yr. im getting no fuel to carb has only 44000 on it.can you help.

Which engine? the 4.2 was a carb, the last i think
the 4.0L EFI is TBI throttle body injection French Renix, system.
but was late 91 on wrangler, ,88 on cherokes.
so is the 4 cylinder or the 4.2L I6
both engines run an electronic carb., yes, carb has a puter.
the 4banger has fuel pump relay.
in both case fuse need to be good.
the 2.5L ECU enables the Fuel pump relay.

1: fuses,good.
2: power to carb electronic control module good.
3:filters clogged and bad fuel.
3: pump dead. or its relay. or ECM is blocking fuel.

on all cars with electronic fuel controls, this one too.
we make sure engine has spark first because most controls
cut fuel if spark is detected bad, via ECM
the try test fuel see if engine runs for 3 seconds off this spray
next time post what engines and get 10x better answers

we can ever guess driveline, sorry !!!

I have a 1989 jeep yj it started blowing oil out the crankcase vent any ideas why

PCV bad. (or its hose pinched, clogged or even backward)
  1. PCV is failing fix this first for $5 or remove it and see how bad blow by is. visually. (remove only valve covers side to test )
  2. or cracked or collapsed piston.
  3. or cracked head gasket, compression tests pass?
yes one of the best jeeps are YJ, not full 10 stinking married computers , wish every day I never sold my 2002,
2002 is the last good jeep IMO

blow by is most mostly past bad piston rings, even warped cylinder from past overheated engine,

The YJ used a 2.5 L AMC 150 I4 or optional 4.2 L AMC 258 I6 until 1990

Where is ign.module for 89 6cyl. wrangler

ok just the word, 6cylinder.
but they had many.
early wrangler ,called the YJ jeep. true name.
be nice to know the VIN, number, xxxx on end.,
this tells the helper whats there, if still stock , is it? many are NOT.
many this old are engine swapped,
no photos by you of engine nor distributor...
nor the connector pin count on side of distributor.
lets do displacement first is it the 4.0L ?
with throttle body. injection, or a carb.?
1989 is a year of rapid changes, I had 2x 88s.
some have the french EFI , called Renix.
with 4 injectors, and a brain dead ECU. horrid.
this have there very own different spark systems.
I think the last carb ever on wrangler is 1987.
before this worse electronic carbs, yup , avoid them.
4.2L inline 6 no the 4.0L (5million made)
looks like injection did not happen on YJ until.... 1991. later
than all other jeeps, 4 years, late.
I had many of the others, my beloved, Comanche 88
500k miles long....

1989 jeep yj mc2100 carb upgrade, the jeep runs but when i shut it off and look into the carb its dripping fuel down in there, its like it drains what is in the bowl

The fuel should not leak into the venturi.
Chances are the float is set too high or there is dirt in the seat.
The float pushes down on a valve to shut off the flow from the pump much like the float in your toilet.
You could take the top off the carb and check the float level with the carb on the truck. You may need a book to tell you where the level is supposed to be.

87 yj boggs out after giving a lot of gas while driving

you may have gotten so bad fuel try some STP gas treatment and some Shell gasoline also give these websites a try www.alldatadiy.com and www.autozone.com if all fails stop by your local library and get your hands on a Haynes auto repair manual for your Jeep wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.

Cranks OK but won't start. Fuel OK in Carb

mine problem was identical, the fuel filter has a return to tank on it and when it starts to get plugged it returns all the fuel to tank and not start, i crimped the return with vise grips and it started right up so i knew to replace the fule filter

Possible bad fuel pump on 1988 yj . Won't pick up speed just falls on its face

I would say its not bad fuel, it would not start on bad fuel. I would be looking at a fuel block somewhere most likley in the carb sys.

88 jeep yj carb 6 cly automatic, where is the map

If you have a carb you do not have a map or IAC valve. They are on fuel injected throttle body setups. You really should go to an auto parts store and get a book if your really interested.

1989 jeep wagoneer fuel problems like it is

clean the carb or throttle body with carb cleaner and make sure that the butterfly valve inside is moving properly.check all the spark plugs,cap rotor and lead wires to make sure all cylinders are working.

89 jeep yj wont keep running

sounds like you need to rebuild your carb. I just had mine done for my jeep the hardest part was finding someone to do it. ps mine only cost 50 bucks so dont get ripped off. good luck and hope this helps.
