No spark at the plugs Suzuki engine R30

Had not started bike for a month, work abroad tried to start bike turned over but did not fire. Checked fuses, wiring, ignition switch etc . Took bike to the nearest CCM agent. Phoned him after a week and he said it was the coil. He replaced the coil and bike would still not start and he could do no more and he suspected the CDI unit. Got the bike back and CCM supplied me with a CDi unit to try, still would not start. They suggested the Rev Counter could be the fault, got one from them still would not start. Took the bike to a independant dealer, two weeks later it is back in my garage still not starting All the lights etc work . The Side stand switch has been bypassed in case that was the fault. Prior to this saga the bike used to start real good

I have ROTAX engined 604 no spark at my spark plug, just found another site that says the same thing no spark changed every ignition/electrical part and nothing. then spotted small crack in flywheel magnet. i'm going to check mine weekend. worth a try. it says he was bumpin and it worked high revs. mine died when i put it in neutral after a serious thrash on an A road 1-5th gear wheelie :| fort id fried a piston ring but no spark is what i'll fix before i pull the bore apart. good luckk

My 2004 suzuki volusia VL800 cranks but won't start. I checked the fuel pump and it pumps fuel.I checked for sparks and it sparks. what could be the problem?

I always go back to the basics. Fuels, spark, compression. Try a shot of starting fluid spray into the carb immediately hitting the starter, if it starts and dies the problem is fuel. If it doesn't even spit or try, it's ignition. Gasoline nowadays is poor, shelf life maybe 3 months. Use absolutely fresh non oxygenated (10% ethanol) premium. Spark plugs can fire out of the engine easier than when under compression. I use a dandy home made tester, a spark plug attached to a battery clamp which easily grounds to the engine. Use a healthy .050 gap to see the spark is strong enough to jump the distance. After you try to start it, pull your plug. Is it bone dry or wet? That'll give a clue. If all else fails it's time for a compression test, and determine if your spark is happening at the right moment. Re try your efforts first as described, get back to me with your results, and best of luck.

Drain the carb floats and clean with Seafoam. Gas breaks down after about 6 months and the ethanol in the gas coats the carb.

Hi,
Check the starter, wire connection harness and starter solenoid.
That high amp means a power that was being drain by the solenoid or the starter motor.
Disconnect the wire terminal of the starter and connect your ignition, you will see that it will not drain power from your battery and solve your fuse popping.
Then pull down the starter, overhaul it and clean/lubricate the bushing. If you can't do the starter a mechanic can do it for you.

Hope that helps you.

Thanks for using FixYa!

Ive just put a anew battery and plugs on my bike, but it still wont start,i have checked and there is a spark on the plug and the bike is turning over but it isnt firing

Remove lh cover from air filter ( chrome cover) and spraysome easy start into the housing while turning the engine over, you could also soak a cloth in fuel, and hold it in the ail filter housing with filter removed, this way when you attemt to start it the fuel on the cloth will enter the engine and hopfully your bike will start, quickly remove the cloth or the engine will flood, if the bike starts hold the throttle at a steady 3000rpm for a miniute or two, until the bike will idle if your bike runs then stops after this, you may try draining the fuel from the carb by undoing the screw at the lowest point of the carb, let it drain completely, in severe cases you may have to remove and cleanout carb

re-check the wires, get the manual and redo what you did. bike not starting may be a seperate issue, does it crank? you have to be very specific if you hope to get a relevant answer from someone who cant see your bike.
