Intermittent loss of electrics on st1300 pan european abs model 2005

Hi, Andy and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely discharged or a damaged battery, should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary your battery may have a cursory reading of 12.5 volts or more but has little or zero amperage and needs to be replaced AGM types more so than lead acid batteries.
2. Faulty alternator/generator and or voltage regulator.
3. Loose or corroded battery terminals and or cables especially the "NEGATIVE" cable, look for loose, corroded, or broken connectors inside the cable harness at "BOTH" ends.
4. Faulty main circuit breaker or ignition switch, check for loose connections and continuity.
5. Faulty system and or ignition relay, check for continuity.
6. Faulty ignition coil, ignition/electronic module.
7. Faulty CKP, CPS, CMP, MAP, TPS, or BAS sensor, corroded, loose or broken wire connector pins/sockets.
8. Throttle cables and or idle speed improperly adjusted hot idle speed should be 950 RPM to 1000 RPM.
9. Faulty neutral, side stand or clutch lever safety switch.
10. Fuel tank empty
11. Fuel tank contaminated with ethanol sludge.
12. Water or dirt in the fuel system, or clogged filter.
13. Restricted, blocked or kinked fuel line.
14. Faulty fuel pump.
15. Faulty pressure regulator.
16. Faulty or clogged fuel injectors.
17. Lean angle switch is faulty or needs adjustment.

turn to page 184 in the operators manual.. find the fuse map.. there should be 5 rows of 9 fuses... all colour coded.. top left, nearest the big fuses (which I have ignored) is fuse 6, to fuse 14 at the other end of the row.. 15 is under 6, going to 23, and so on. Pull out #13 <5amp>(top row second in from right) Pull #15 <5amp>(second row, furthest left Pull out #21.. <5amp>immediately under where #13 was Pull #32 third row, furthest right (20amp) This will neutralise the alarm, but keep the central locking.. DON'T leave the fuses in the car.. take them inside, and contact the garage at a more socialble hour.. this wil allow you to drive the car, saving a small fortune in pick up fees.

Battery going dead

The battery regulator may not be functioning properly. At times it will send a charge to the battery and at times it won't. This is normal, but if it is not allowing the battery to receive current when it should then there is a problem. Another possibility is a loose connection in the wiring. I would check the connections first.

Battery drains after 3 days of no use

Even though the battery is new does not mean its not faulty!
Also you might want to check the bikes alternater and make sure it is charging the battery when you are running the bike!
I hope this helps you!

Oil change

When storing for winter oil should be changed before so as to remove contaminates (certainly would not hurt to change-falls under the category of severe usage), then you don't have to worry in spring when you pull your bike out. Hope you drained the carbs and kept the battery charged or you could be looking at spending more money.
