1996 buick century coolant fan circuits

What relay ? where is it located ? Front right radiator support ,behind right headlamp ? An just so you know your vehicle has two fans , one you can see behind the radiator an the other you can't see . It's located in front of the radiator . One pusher an the other pulls ! The PCM - engine computer energizes the relays turning on the fans > The coolant sensor is an input to the PCM an when engine temp. reaches 212 degrees the PCM turns on the fans . If you had a factory scan tool you could see if PCM can control the fans , energizing the relays ! Go to http://bbbind.com/free_tsb.html free wiring diagrams ! Do you know what a wiring diagram is .

Why wont my 1990 cadillac sadan de ville radiator cooling fans come on

You likely have a bad coolant temperature sensor, any local auto parts dealer can tell you where it is located. I would try to run 12 volts directly to the fan and see if the fan turns,.. basically jump the fan with a 12 volt circuit. you can take a wire from the positive battery terminal and another wire from the negative battery terminal and connect them to the fan and see if the fan rotates. If you know the fan is working then your problem is definitely the coolant temperature sensor in my opinion. Usually coolant temperature sensors are located in the radiator or near the water pump. You should be able to trace the wires from the fan to the different locations where a sensor might be.. hope this helps.

Radiator fan not running while car is on

There could be a number of reasons why the fan is not coming on. First of all, it will not come on until the temp reaches a level necessary to have it on. In addition, if the a/c is on, it should be running at all times while the a/c is on. If your car has a/c, turn it on and check to see if radiator fan is running. If not check the following, coolant temp sensor, radiator fan relay fuse, radiator fan motor, coolant fan switch and temp sensor. Start with the easiest, the fuse and work from there. Most switches and sensors can be tested with a simple ohmeter.

ANY TIME YOU CHANGE RADIATOR ONCE YOU GET THE NEW RADIATOR IN PLACE.FILL RADIATOR WITH ANTIFREEZE CRANK VECHICLE UNTIL THERMOSTAT OPEN. WHEN YOU TOUCH THE TOP RADIATOR HOSE.IF TOP HOSE HOT THERMOSTAT OPEN.CHECK RADIATOR COOLANT LEVEL IF DROPPED ANY.ADD COOLANT UNTIL LEVEL QUIT DROPPING. WHEN COOLANT LEVEL QUIT DROPPING YOUR COOLANT LEVEL IS CORRECT. NO MORE AIR IN COOLANT SYSTEM OR AROUND COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR COOLANT FAN SHOULD TURN ON ONCE ENGINE GET TO CERTAIN COOLANT TEMPERATURE.SEE IF COOLANT TOO LOW NOT ENOUGH COOLANT REACH COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR. SENSOR CANT TURN ON FANS IF ITS NOT IN HOT COOLANT. WHICH DECREASE ITS RESISTANCE WHICH CLOSE OR GROUND CIRCUIT CAUSING COOLING FANS TURN ON.

Radiator fan not coming on. i replace the 2 relays and the one sensor. what else could it be. i can make the fan work. just unplug from the sensor.

Check fluids. If you are excessively low, the sensor in the radiator will not have anything to read. If the coolant level is OK, you may have a defective thermostat. If the thermostat is defective, this will prevent the hot coolant from inside the motor from reaching the sensor in the radiator..

Fans wont come on at all in my chevrolet silverado 2007 it will run hot if we are still but, if we get moving the engine cools down immediately

sounds like you have a bad temperature sensor/fan switch usaully located on the radiator. turns on fan when coolant reaches operating temperature. when moving the ram air going thru radiator is enough to cool the engine without the fan,

1988 New Yorker, the radiator fans inoperative, fan's tested ok, relay?

the relay would be a good start. it should be located in the fuse box in the engine compartment near the battery. you may also look for a brass fitting/sensor that screws into the side of your radiator. basically it is used to turn on the fan when the coolant reaches a preset temperature.

Overheating in 1987 Corolla AE82 4 door sedan

Sounds like you need to bleed the air out of the radiator. If you already did that, there next thing might be a faulty coolant temperature sensor on the radiator or a loose connection from the coolant sensor to the radiator fan. The coolant temperature sensor turns on the radiator fan when it reaches a certain temperature.

1. Bleed the air out of the radiator.
2. Make sure the radiator fan is turning on.
3. Check for a faulty coolant sensor.

Good Luck.

Coolig fans dont run

the cooling fans are run by a relay it's located in the junction box. check this. there is also a thermoatic sensor located near the fans next to radiator. the fans should free spin when the engine is off this is a good indiacator that it's not the fan themselves. if the relay checks out(run engine and switch the fan relay with the a/c clutch relay when the engine reaches 180 degrees you will feel the upper radiator hose get hot the fans will turn on a short time later iof they don't it's the temp sensor near the radiator if they do it's a bad relay...please rate this thanks
