It sounds like the cable was kinked, which was causing the needle to jump. Now the cable has broken, so the speedo won't work at all. Replace the speedo cable....

1996 Triumph Tiger leaks fuel heavily when running


Hi, Phillip and the usual suspects are:
1. Damaged or restricted fuel tank venting system.
2. Loose float bowl screws.
3. Damaged float bowl o-ring.
4. improper fuel level in the float bowl.
5. Worn or dirty inlet valve or seat.
6. Damaged or leaking float assembly.
7. Particle contamination in inlet fitting cavity.
8. Damaged petcock diaphragm allowing fuel to flow through the vacuum line into the combustion chamber.
9. Contaminated fuel tank.

Headlight adjustment on a '99 Triumph Tiger


1) Remove the perspex screen
2) Detach the indicators (left and right) - try to take the weight off the wires or dangle them very gently
3) Unscrew the 4 Torx bolts (size T40)
4) Grab both sides and pull forward gently

let is sit for a day and dry out. you probably got moisture into the spark plugs, or the distributor, or the wires. if you have a battery charger, charge the battery while you are waiting.
