The "+" positive battery cable and all other wires with large eyelet connectors connect to the upper large terminal on the starter solenoid, and the wire with the small eyelet connector (usually a purple wire) will connect to the small "S" terminal on the starter solenoid, and if there is a small "R" or "I" terminal on the starter solenoid it will not be used for your vehicle and it is only for older vehicles with breaker point ignition systems. The "+" positive battery cable and all of the other wires with the large eyelet connectors will connect together at the large upper main or "BAT" terminal on the starter solenoid.
The "S" terminal on the starter solenoid is for the field wire from the ignition switch, and it will usually be a purple colored wire, however the wire could also be pink or brown and it will have the smaller eyelet connector.
The "I" terminal if the starter solenoid even has one will only be used if the vehicle is an early year and the distributor has a breaker point ignition, and it is not used for electronic distributors.

you should have checked the alternator and the battery before you did that. my 03 montecarlo has the idnition on the dash above the radio but i'm thinking yours may have it in the steering column. check the ignition mechanism and for any stripped or broken wires
On regulator, top down:brown, orange, white, dark blue. Top down again: field on alt...,"r" on alt,... to battery,... to resistor that goes to acc side of ign switch, and through dash light to run side of switch (Same wire splits on it's way there) different if transistor regulator or if regulator is in the alt.
check to see if the wire is broken for the passlock/passkey system in the ignition lock cylinder, its common for the copper wire to seperate inside the insulation, when you tilt the column it could have been pushing the wires together enough to touch inside the insulation
