The frame on your 97 model (models F1, F2, F3 1995-1997) are very different from the next models up i.e G(1998), you could try and drill the correct holes, but considering the damage and the old holes, try and see if you can sell your 1997 for a 1998, makes such a difference, try www.pistonheads.com, there are loads to choose from.

Hi Have just converted a G 98 model to a J 00 model. Needed to buy some parts first though. Headlamp, clocks, ram air covers and intake front cover, clock bracket, plug for headlamp loom to connect to wiring loom. The fairings needed fettling to fit the front hugger needed major work as the lower fork tubes are a slightly different shape. Hope that helps
