I have a 2005 LT80 that is making a whining sound consistent with the velocity of the transmission and seems to be getting worse. Any ideas?

there are 2 possibilities

Yes, you need to change the rear gear oil.
Back of the bike where axle runs through left crankcase. There is a small 10mm bolt on the bottom.
Take that out and the gear oil will drain. This is the drain bolt.
When empty replace the drain bolt and remove the fill bolt/cap 10mm on the side of the left crankcase. Should be approx 2 inches above the drain bolt. It will be marked right on the case.
Fill it up with gear oil until it runs out the hole your putting it into.
Screw the cap/bolt back in and your good to go.

Yes, your drive belt is breaking, tearing. Located on the left side of engine under clutch cover.

Put the bike on a stand or make sure the bike is level and upright. Start the bike. Let run for 1 min. Shut down. Let sit for 5 minutes. There is a dipstick on the frame below the handlebars on the left side of the bike. Unscrew and check. Another important check to do is to check that you have pressure. On the back side of the head, you will see a metal line running up it. Just to the right of the top of the line you will see a 8mm bolt. This is the oil gallery bolt. Loosen it quite a bit and start the bike. if within one minute you do not see oil seepage from it, you do not have oil pressure. Shut the bike down as this will seize the engine within a couple of minutes. If you have pressure, tighten the bolt back to 7.2Ft. LBS. I suggest you get a service manual for this bike though as it has alot of important information that can help keep you from making costly mistakes. I can send it to you for $30 digital, or $100 grease proof and digital binder copy.

How much oil is in crankcase and what type?

3.2 ounces from dead empty. Check oil level with tool laid out on a bench, standing upright on it's gas tank, with accessory/trimmer head dangling off of side of bench. Crankcase is filled when oil plug is removed and oil level can be seen just up to the threads of the plug hole. Check before every use, especially if unit sees work tilted to one side as an edger - a little oil is consumed when it slips past the ring pack in this position.

How much oil for a 2006 honda crf 250x?

The crankcase oil fill is the dipstick hole on the left side of the engine. It holds .73 quart. The right side fill plug is for the transmission oil. It holds .63 quart. You will need to drain the transmission oil and refill it with the correct amount of oil. The drain is located on the left lower crankcase. It is bolt/washer in the parts diagram of the link below. I recommend you purchase an owners manual or service manual for this bike as this is a high performance model that requires frequent maintenance.

Cracked frame

Suzuki replaced my frame about a 1.5 years ago.I was 3rd owner,9000 miles on bike, all stock and original except pipes. The only drawback was I had to pay for the labor, which was about a $1100. I knew the mechanic at the shop and they let me do the labor myself. The frame was cracked on both sides where the radiator mount screw into the frame.

Drain and change oil

I can't tell you all the particulars from the limited amount of pictures of your bike. -Remove the oil drain bolt on the bottom of the crankcase (the universal bolt size for bikes use a 17mm wrench). -Drain the oil (remember to recycle). -Re-install the drain bolt with a new sealing washer if necessary. -The oil fill cap should be some where on the top of the crankcase. About 1 or 25mm in diameter with a raised tab for turning. -Fill with recommended oil. -There are 2 ways to check oil level on dirt bikes: 1) Oil level check bolt. On the right side cover. 2) Oil level site glass. A 1 round piece of glass on the side of the crankcase. Usually by the kick start & R brake lever. -Always check the oil level with the bike upright (as if you were sitting on it). -Check bolt - fill with oil slowly until oil comes out of the check bolt and re-install it. -Sight glass - fill with oil to cover 3/4 of the sight glass. -Remember to hold the bike upright when adding oil.,
