Question about 2000 Harley Davidson FLHTCUI Electra Glide Ultra Classic

1991 FLHTC fork lock won't lock

Not sure why, but it has stopped being able to be locked. Not sure how it works, so thought maybe just seized, but not sure how to get to it.

Either the little pin is stuck in its little housing or it has broken off. Also look for the little stump the pin would catch when engaged to see if it has broken also. Pin would be on the triple clamp and the stump would be on the goose neck area.

Cant unock forks even in ulocked key postion


Fork lock may be seized. Try spraying a little WD40 on it. Not on ignition switch but where lock engages on fork yokes.

2008 GMC Sierra pickup. Driving and all of a sudden it shut off then turned back on; the doors unlocked then locked again. Now it won't do anything. Checked the oil and it was empty - no oil at


Running with no oil is death for the motor ( Seized). When the alternator stopped working because the engine stopped the door lock control opened the door locks as it said you were below the required speed to have them locked

I pulled the key out while im the locked position ofmy kawasaki ninja 250. now it wont go back in.


I think you are talking about the ignition when you say you moved the key to the lock position. If you will look at the neck of the frame where the front end attaches, you will probably find a fork lock there ... probably in the front, maybe to either side. That is how you lock the front tire ... now, you dont actually lock the front tire, you lock the fork which prevents the fork from being turned. As far as I know, you cant lock the tire itself.

If you are still having trouble getting the key into the ignition, I suggest yo get some spray LOCK lubricant, NOT a popular spray cleaner ... LOCK lubricant. Apply according to manufactures recommendations.

I need an exploded view or instruction so I can install the front wheel onto the forks of my 1991 HD Ultra Classic. Anyone? Thanks


There shouldn't be anything to putting the front wheel on your bike. On each side of the wheel, there is a seal and a "spacer" inside the seal. If this is spacer is in the seal on each side of your wheel, put the wheel between the forks and slide the axle in. The large end of the axle pulls all the way in against the "spacer" on that side and this pulls the "spacer" on the other side tight against the fork on the other side. Tighten the axle nut to 50-60 foot pounds and the clamp bolts to 25 foot pounds of torque. How do I put front wheel on without making the forks lock up it keeps doing that when I put it on my02 cr250


Putting uneven loading on the forks(twist) may cause binding and harsh action but I haven't heard of them locking up. Try the following order of installation. position the wheel and slide in the axel. Tighten the axel, leaving the pinch nuts loose. Spin the tire and stop it a few times using the front brake. Tighten the pinch nuts. Put bike on the ground and see if forks still bind. If they do then loosen the pinch bolts, lock the front brake and try to compress the forks. This should align the forks. Tighten the pinch bolts. Check forks again. If you still have problems someting is wrong like bent fork tube or slider, misaligned triple clamp, maybe a bent axel.You might take off the fork tubes and push on them seperately to make sure they feel ok. Then do the install checking the forks at each step to find the place where binding starts. Good luck.

YOU SEEN WHITE SMOKE THAT HEAD GASKET LEAK.CHECK ENGINE OIL DIPSTICK.IF IT LOOKS LIKE CHOCOLATE MILKSHAKE THATS HEAD GASKET LEAKING CAUSING A LOT OF ANTIFREEZE ENTER THE OIL PAN.CAUSING THE ENGINE TO HYDRASTATIC LOCK.WHEN TOO MUCH ANTIFREEZE GETS IN THE CRANKCASE IT DILUTES OIL UNTIL IT STOP LUBRICATING ENGINE CAUSING CRANKSHAFT BEARINGS AND PISTON TO SEIZED UP LOCK UP THE ENGINE.ENGINE HAS TO BE REPLACED.
