2 Things you Need to check Neutral switch conductivity and there is an interlock with the kickstand switch also if you can just pull the connectors apart make sure their good and dry ( Hair Dryer works) and check with an ohm meter if you have good near 0 resistance if you do not have one you can purchase them for about 10 Bucks on Ebay or Banggood Do NOT use a test light if you connect to wrong wires accidentally you could damage components . Do all your other instrument cluster and electronics operate correctly ? Could be a fuse problem also check input connection at Control Module .

SOURCE: neutral light goes out when warm

The sidestand kill switch is working properly, no issue there. I would try a can of freeze spray when the neutral light is out and attempt to cool various points in the circuit. Pay particular attention to where the sensor wiring enters the rest of the wiring harness or the fusebox area, I suspect a broken wire.

SOURCE: 1998 Honda Goldwing will not start nothing.

Sort of sounds like a Twilight Zone kind of problem doesn't it. I would have the battery checked for an internal dead short. This is something that happens on odd occasions and can happen even to a new battery. Yea, the little lights will work ( they do not draw much juice ), but the starter motor draws a lot of juice and a shorted battery just ain't got it. Also check the wiring harness connections. One loose connection can cause bunches of trouble.

SOURCE: Neutral Light won't come on; bike won't start

O.K. guys! for those of you having problems with your NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH . I had this problem on my 1994 goldwing se and after calling dealers that had all kinds of replies that I didn't like I decided to see if I could find a solution and I did find the problem and fixed it without having to even buy parts. The bad part is that you have many parts to remove to get at the problem but it's possible for anybody to fix the switch.
Here is what I did:I took out my manual and decided to remove the top part of the gas tank cover.By following my manual I removed the 2 pockets on each side of the handle bars then I followed the instruction on removing thecover that holds your radio all the way to the cover where you fill the gas tank. When that cover is released you will see wiring that plugs into your radio follow instruction and remove the plugs and get that whole cover out of your way....
Now on the left side of the bike (same side as the side stand) you will have to remove the left side cover where the REVERSE LEVER is again if you follow your manual it is possible to do without much trouble. Now when you have removed that side panel you will see where your REVERSE LEVER was and you will see a little switch attached to that reverse switch. REMOVE that switch and spray it with electrical cleaner solution and work it back and forth till you hear and feal it clicking and once that happens put it back on the bike and try it out.YOU SHOULD HAVE A GREEN LIGHT AND YOUR BIKE SHOULD START. That is how I repaired my switch and don't have the green light problem at all now.IF THAT SOLVES YOUR PROBLEM YOU CAN NOW PUT IT ALL BACK TOGETHER.
If your switch doesn't clean up and doesn't work you can order one from hondaline.

Engine run switch in OFF position.
2. Ignition switch not on.
3. Discharged battery, loose or corroded connections.
(Solenoid chatters.)
4. Starter control relay or solenoid not functioning.
5. Electric starter shaft pinion gear not engaging or overrunning
clutch slipping.
6. Clutch lever not pulled in.

2006 Harley softail fuel injected starts fine but engine light comes back on like it's still trying to prime. Light will go out and come back on sometime staying on while the bike is idling. Throttle...

Hi, Anonymous, it should be noted that the reasons your engine light stays on constantly or flashes and your bike will or will not start and may turn over or not, these conditions will vary from bike to bike depending on the year, make, and model and you should always refer to your owners/service manual for proper diagnostic procedures. It should also be noted that any type of prior work done to the bike or an abnormal event occurrence IE: adding accessories, electrical curiosity/adventures, laying the bike down/crashes, rain storms/bike washings just before the engine light issues started can be significant hints/aids into tracking down the gremlin, also carry the appropriate jumper wire to access fault codes to reduce the risk of being stranded or towed, that being said the usual suspects are:
1. Faulty Fuel Pump, fuse or system relay switch.
2. Battery starting to fail due to old age/damage, perform a load test.
3. A discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Faulty safety switches/sensors: run/off, ignition, clutch lever, neutral, side stand, tip over, fuel, and or their connections.
5. Broken wire or worn insulation exposing wire to a ground situation especially inside wire harness at tight bends around fairing brackets, under dash panels, under fuel tanks over cylinder heads etc. Many harnesses are open on the ends that will allow water to enter and accumulate at v-bends.
Dielectric grease and contact cleaner are your best friends for wire/cable/harness connectors, look for corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets.

Flstf will not start no neutral light or oil light or no head lights when approaching bike no flashing lights from security system

Dead battery, main circuit breaker is automatic resetting so it probably isn't that. Check battery connections for corrosion.

Can't find neutral safety switch on 1993 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail

'93 Heritage Softail doesn't have a neutral safety switch. It does have a switch that turns on the dash neutral light when the bike is shifted into neutral. It is located in the transmission top cover, and will probably be under the oil tank.

I recently washed my 2005 custom chopper and thought that I had dried it off well enough, obviously not! The bike has an S&S 111 engine and when I went to go for a ride I turned the ignition key and...

take a leaf blower and dry the bike with it, after washing any bike you should use a "light" powerd leaf blower to dry your bike. Just let the water dry out and you should be fine. If not pull out all the fuses and hand dry them before you them back in and try it...
