Question about 2008 Suzuki GSX-R 600

1 Answer

I need an exploded view of the rear axle on my 08 gsxr 600. So I can check to see if I have correct spacing. Worked fine for 2 weeks, then the caliper bracket started dragging against the rear rotor. I need to know if I am using the right spacers.

I think what happened is, I worked on my bike at another house, and I accidentally ran without a spacer that goes inside the sprocket drum, and I think over 2 weeks that I rode without it, the inside spacer of the axle shifted so that I lost my play room on both sides of the rotor. So I'm going to take it to the dealer tomorrow and have them pull the dust seals and bearings so they can re-align the spacers as they should be, then I'll bring the wheel back home and hopefully it will fit like a glove. Thanks for the help.

So much for laying everything out, carefully, so it all goes back together the same way. Have you asked the dealer? What did you do, replace the brake pucks? Spacers sometimes are trial and error just so drag is minimal. Just make sure that you use the same amount and thickness if there is more than one mounting point, so the caliper unit doesn't shift and go crooked.

Slack in chain on 2004 gsxr 600

Hi Sean:
To adjust the chain tension you need to move the rear wheel.
That involves slacking off the axle nuts, turning the nuts equally on the adjusters until you get the required tension, and then tightening the axle nuts. You should also check the prake pedal for correct amount of free play after doing a chain adjustment.

It depends on weither or not you have any aftermarket stuff put on the bike. My 600 will do 182 but that is with a power commander, acceleration kit, k&n air induction kit, k&n filter, and having it dyno tuned. My buddys stock 600 will do about 166 mph
