Checking the gear oil on the Manual transmission requires you to get under the car, and about 1/2 to 3/4 way up the side of the transmission, there is an about 1/2" ***** in plug. remove the plug, and stick your finger in the hole. the gear oil should be up to the bottom of that hole to be full. most manual trans use 90 weight gear oil.

How do I check trans fluid on a 06 750li?I have a dip stick but it doesn't say on dip stick; if I check It with car in neutral or park while engine is running,or do I check it with engine off.

most vehicle auto trans are checked while the engine is running and trans is warmed up to normal operating temp. except hondas which are checked with engine off. pull out the dipstick and the fluid level should be somewhere in between the hash marks. if its low just top off a quarter quart at a time and watch the fluid residue on hash mark on the end of dipstick.

92 honda acord standered ,were on the motor do I add oil for the gears? Or do I even have to?

  1. The gears are in the transmission.. you can add oil to the trans if it is low.. Auto trans uses auto trans fluid. There is a dip stick.
  2. Standard trans you must remove a plug in the side of it to check the fluid.
  3. The engine uses motor oil.. you remove the cap that is attached to the top of the motor.. but first check the oil with the dip stick.

Cant find where to add trans fluid on 97 jetta 5 speed

A standard 5 speed does not have a dip-stick for the trans. You have to get it from underneath the car. There will be 2 fairly large plugs, one on the bottom of the trans and one about 1/4 of the way up the side. The bottom one is to drain it, the top one is to check/fill it. You remove the plug with a 1/2 inch drive rachet(no socket) The fluid should be able to be felt or maybe run out a little when you stick your finger into the hole. Make sure you use what ever the manufactorer recomends for fluid. Some standards use 90w gear oil, some use ATF fluid. If you use the wrong type, you can mess up your trans.

If your thinking that your needing fluid because the trans is slipping, you are wrong, you need to replace your clutch.

No Dip Stick for trans fluid on 98 Kia Sephia!

The transmission fluid needs to be replaced and checked at a transmission shop or the dealer. In the manual is the information you need to when the transmission is due for service to keep your car running 100% and to keep the warranty valid. Good luck and hope this helps.

How do you check auto trans fulid with no dip stick

if it has no dipstick on the car anywhere it is what they call a world standard type tranny and will have to be done at a tranny shop or at dealer because the car has to be lifted in the air while running to check and ad fluid.

Checking and servicing the automatic transmission

The cap your reffering to is the dip stick. You need to remove the 10mm bolt that holds it in order to check/fill the trans. The trans takes Nissan J Matic fluid ONLY use of any other fluid will damage the trans and void your warranty(this is why it is bolted in). You will see it printed on the handle of the stick when you remove it. You can use the drain plug on the trans pan to drain the old fluid out and then refill it at the tube with a funnel.
