High fuel consumption Petrus, sticking E brake, poor gas, tune up needed, lazy O2 sensor,
leaking injectors, driving habits, etc. all can cause more fuel consumption. Have it scanned to help determine cause.

Good day. Thanks for info so far.NB: I do not find O2 sensor on exhaust system. Seems this model does not have one. I only see three sensors. 1)Throttle sensor 2) vacuum sensor 3)and a white sensor on righthand side of intake manifold? Any suggestion on next step.

Sorry Petrus, I am not real familiar with that engine, Maybe a good technician could scan the vehicle and set you on the right track.

Hello everyone, I have a DAF CF 85 and it currently consumes 76 liters/100km. What is the problem as I consider the consumption as too high (32 liter/100km according to the manual).

Get it on a high level, pro grade scan tool and check long term and short term fuel trim.

Make sure all the tires are correctly inflated, no brakes binding and drive light footed.

Repair ecm

why start with the most expensive part that is never bad.?
I5 engine. 4 cylinders. high MPG or high liters/100km

instead, why not check:
  1. CEL lamp glows running? oops. PCM is unhappy.
  2. no matter scan it. scan it with a obd2 scan tool (USA CAR?)
  3. first make sure the engine thermostat reaches 180F. more.
  4. then see if EFI holds closed loop mode, status at hot idle.
  5. If not we fix that 1st.
  6. Then we drive. and make sure at light flat cruise, closed loop holes. if not we fix that.
not guessing, just statistics.
1: fuel pressure i too high, , fuel reg stuck.
2: leaking injectors.
3: ECU stuck in limp home mode, and sucking fuel and has bad sensors.
4: exhaust pipe newer front oxygen sensor cracked, (sucks fuel now)
no cracks allows, or a bad oxy sensor here.
bank1 sensor 1 , replace at 100k miles for best L/km.
5: thermostat bad. runs cold .
6: FAILED to to the 100km tune up. bad. deal there.

there are simple tests in each case.
ask.

1994 1.6L Suzuki Sidekick has excessive fuel consumption. 24L/100km or 9.8 MPG. Catalytic converter has been removed by previous owner. Could this be the cause?

It could be if it is equipped with fuel injection. There would be oxygen sensors that are getting some strange readings that would effect fuel mixture. i`m not sure if a `94 would have them but would be easy to look and see.

What is the normal fuel consumption rate for a 1991 mercedes (station wagon, please?

That depends on the engine and the fuel used. My W124 4 door 2 liter petrol engine  running on Regular CO95 does 7 liter/100km on road and 12l/100km it a very congested city.

Delay in Ignition and High fuel consumption

have you checked the fuel pressure regulator (usually found on the front end of the fuel rail.) The pressure should be around 31lbs with the vacuum line on, 41lbs with vacuum line off. An exceptionally high reading may indicate a blocked or pinched return line. Delay in starting may be due to too much fuel going into engine on start up. Any black smoke out back or excessive carbon residue in end of tailpipe? This isn't really a solution but some suggestions on where I'd be looking.
good luck!

Poor Fuel Consumption 2001 V70 T5 Post Seal Change and Timing Blt

Do you remember by chance speed vs RPM before & after work done? for example : before was 2000 RPM @ 60 MPH. Now 2200 RPM @ 60MPH ? May be coincidence, and transmission not shifting to overdrive or high gear.

FUEL CONSUMPTION

The fuel consumption sounds about right for a turbo, perhaps a little high. Hwy consumption depends on how you drive. If you cruise at 100 kph, you should get around 8 L/ 100km. Round town, about 10 L / 100km.
