I've eplaced the thermostat on my 2014 HD Ultra Limited. Apparently I was supposed to bleed the cooling system after I refilled it, but I can't find any how-to's on accomplishing that. Any tips?

The cooling system might not need bleeding after just changing the thermostat.

Lots of modern cooling systems are self-bleeding but some are so problematic special tools have been developed to cope. The tool evacuates the air from the cooling system and then when the vacuum is released the coolant fill is complete.

Some manufacturers fit one, two or more bleeder screws to help bleed the cooling system but others must have various hoses temporarily disconnected, either with a running engine or a pressurised cooling system - wet sleeves and a faceful of coolant soon teaches the apprentice the technique for minimum wetness.

How do i purge the cooling system after changing the thermostat

I assume you mean purging the system of air?

Many cooling systems are well designed and are self-purging. A few need to be carefully refilled and sometimes a hose or two needs disconnecting. Sometimes there are strategically placed cooling system bleed screws.

These days there are clever tools available to help avoid the fiddling about needed to bleed air from troublesome cooling systems. Basically it is a vacuum pump that evacuates the air from a cooling system before allowing atmospheric pressure to charge the system with coolant from a reservoir.

How to change the thermostat on 2000 buick park ave ultra

The thermostat is located under the cover that the upper radiator hose connects to on the engine, let engine cool and remove plastic cover over engine and then remove the 2 bolts that hold the thermostat cover down, replace the thermostat exactly as the old one came out, refill the system with the bleeder valve open on the top of the cover over the thermostat until coolant comes out as you fill, this bleeds our out.

I have a 2000 chryler concorde with no heat. I changed the thermostat.I 've checked the coolant. The blower is working but only cold air. Any solutions

if you have changed the thermostat. did you bleed air out of system, if air is trapped in system it will not heat right! drain radiator and flush it good, but when refilling turn heater on high heat. then bleed air out when refilling system. most all cars have a bleeder for air. if in doubt, call any auto parts store to find out where yours is. if air is in system you will see bubbles appear from bleeder. also when flushing engine, make sure you start vehicle so it circulates through engine as well as refilling system. if the upper radiator hose gets hot then check for heat from car if it is ok! close bleeder and make sure radiator is full. I think the biggest culprit is air trapped in system. before starting the flush, be sure its not caused by low coolant in radiator. have a good day!!

My car idles high in the morning when I start my car and it takes about 10 minutes before it is warm enough to put into gear, otherwise it will kick into gear hard which could mess up my transmission.

Sounds like it may be time for some maintenance. Have the radiator and cooling system flushed(if you wish to do it yourself, you can buy a chemical at any auto parts store and follow the instructions). Once the cooling system has been cleaned and prior to refilling, replace the thermostat. Refill the system and bleed as necessary. Be sure to turn the heater on full blast as you're bleeding the cooling system. It should also make your heater and A/C a little more efficient.

1993 Geo : How do I bleed air from the cooling system? Is there a bleed valve? Where is it located?

No bleed valve. If you want to get the air out of the system, just run the car until it's hot and the thermostat opens, and then run it some more so that the coolant is fully distributed. The air will get to the top of the engine - the filler cap. Then after it's cool you can refill the engine, and the overfill tank.

My 2000 jetta gl is overheating the thermastat is good and the fans work but when you turn on the heater only cold air blows

sounds like your cooling system isn't full.  with the heater on Hi refill the cooling system and bleed it until all the air comes out.  Sometimes you need to raise the front of the car.  And there may be a bleed screw on the thermostat housing.
