do you have a controller between the radio and controls. A proper controller reads the speedo to change the volume

The problem with the aftermarket radios is that option is omitted when you install it. It only works with the factory radio

Did you find the problem with your radio Terry? I have a 2005 X type and the radio has just suddenly started doing exactly the same thing - cant change radio station or use steering controls, only the volume knob works.

Radio in 2003 jeep grand cherokee does not play cd's. it plays the radio stations, volume works, but it does not eject the cd or even recognize it .

you can look for a radio shop to repair the cd player it would be cheaper to install a aftermarket radio they do have kits if you have steering wheel controls

Volume knob does not work

the radio has to be replaced or sent out to get fixed. there is no easy fix to this problem.the knob is shot. (sometimes you can get the vol to move if you wiggle and push and play with the knob)You are better off replacing the radio with a nice aftermarket one.

none of those features will work with any aftermarket radio, the factory unit is a very good system, stick with it.

Sounds like the head unit is bad on your audio system. You would need to replace the entire unit. I'd recommend an aftermarket stereo instead of another Ford stereo.
