Replacing the rear end and need info on moving brake lines and hoses from old axle to new axle
Held on by a bolt and two clips. Bend the clips and remove the bolt. Just be prepared to replace them if they are really rusty. If it were mine, I would pull the axles, Replace the diff and pinion and seal. Replace the axle bearings and seals, if the seals were leaking. If not leaking, just replace the seals.
I am asking about the metal block with the main brake line comes in and the rear brake lines and vet lines go out. Can I pry it off and put it on the replacement rear end. I do not have the tools or experience to replace the diff and pinion.
The block has a bolt threw it. The block is brass and the bolt is steel. The bolt locks up in it, always. Dissimilar metal corrosion. Me, working at a shop, I have to replace the hose and brake lines, insurance stuff. On my vehicle, I replace it all. If money is tight. I cut the bracket that holds it. Again, those lines will have to be moved a bit. Really rusty, they can break and leak.
