Question about 2005 Honda CRF 230 F

1 Answer

Possible Problems? Few days ago my bike started having an extra click noise that drastically reduced the power. It still runs, but with a worrying loud click that grows in intensity as the bike warms up. It's a Honda CRF 230 2008.

I'd start with a valve adjustment, if it hasn't been done yet, it is overdue!

Rattling noise coming from transmission.

Hi, David I would love to help you with your engine or chassis noise but I just loaned my brand new pair of listening ears to your local dealer's chief technician so he could take your bike for a test ride and give you his professional opinion and estimate about your noise and repair cost. Good luck and have nice a day.

Was riding when I started losing power. Then began pouring out smoke let it sit a few days, drained carbs and it fired right up,seamed to run fine except it still had little power.whats wrong with it

You probably broke a cylinder ring. The cylinders are dry when you haven't started them for a while and sometimes that extra friction catches a ring just right and breaks it. A break in the ring kills compression and therefore power. Also the ring allows oil to come up from the oil pan into the combustion chamber where it doesn't burn and you get all the smoke.
Run a compression check on each cylinder by putting a compression tester in the spark plug hole. If one reading is a lot lower than the average...you found your culprit

Will not start

If the bike only run when choke is on you may have have a plug metering jet. Small jet located in the carb body near the main jet.
Jet could have unscrewed from carb due to vibration.

Its possible one of the brake calipers is not releasing.
You may need to check each wheel off the ground to see if the brake is releasing after you push on the pedal.

That light is to let you know there is an issue with the Throttle system and there is reduced power. Check for codes with a real scan tool, not a code reader.

Factory alarm started acting up a few days ago, now car won't start. only hear single click noise. managed to jump started it once

The first thing i would do is to have the battery tested, most problems occur due to a weak battery so i would start by having the battery tested first you may have a low weak battery thats why you were able to jump start it . good day.
