SOURCE: After riding for an hour I parked (2000 RSV Mille)

hey,ive got the exact same bike and problem.its pretty easy to fix.1st take off the front seat.you should wait until the tank is almost empty, although i did it with a half tank.now take the tank completly off turn it upside down on some foam pad.you will see a plate bolted to the tank.remove this being very careful.look inside see the vent hoses broken and not connected.well connect them.reassemble

SOURCE: I have a 2004 aprilia rsv1000r.Iast night I started bike and suddenly cuts out. now the bike wont start. there are n red triangle light stays on while trying to st art the bike with the oil light.

Bummer deal! if the oil level is low - check and fill if so, the bike will not start. I assume the battery is good. Swith your fuel pet-**** to a different fuel on position. Bang the kick stand in its closed position. Hope this works for you. Other bike tips at http://www.auto-tune-up-and-repair-options.com/motorcycle-additives.html

2008 ford edge. How to replace the starter. System shorts out all electrical lights and displays when engaging the starter

Hi, now if im getting what your laying down... whwhen key goes from ign. To start ,it by design cuts off most elec. Systems i.e. lights stereo etc. to give the starter as much amperage as possible. Now you say its shorting out, it would be blowing fuses or burning. I dont think your starter is issue. Btw, are you using the "chipped"key if you are not your ride will shut down and not start. Hope that helps.

I Ask a Mechanic to change Starter and now most light are dead.

i would say check all the fuses again, both in passenger compartment and under the hood. plus, the mechanic should be responsible for this issue. it also sounds like you battery is not fully charged. i would also suspect, the starter was changed without disconnecting the battery and something was shorted as he installed the starter. good luck

I have a 1999 passat 2.8 it wont start by using the jey but u can jump the starter and it will turn over and start. i changed the ignition switch and it still wont start with a key ive noticed i dont have...

i would check your fuses because the lights and horn are most of the time on the same fuse but it sounds like you may have a cut wire to the starter youll have to trace the wire and check it

Hey Guys my dads 97 Suburban4x4 is having truble

Ok does the engine turn (easely) when you start it up, if yes, then you got you're self a "crank but won't start" condition. That is a little more complicated but if it simply won't turn when you start then you got a "no crank" condition witch is preaty simple.
First be absolutely sure that you're battery is good, try an other battery on it, one that you know is good. If it starts, change you're battery. I've often seen batterys that charge but go completely dead a soon as you take the charger off of them.
Second, verify the wiring, simply inspect the cable that goes directly to the starter for a cut or damage, also don't forget to check out the engine to body ground, witch usualy corodes and cuts (it's located near the crankshaft balancer and goes directly to the boby) Repair if neaded. Also verify that you're starter relay clicks when you start. If it does not clic, then you got a burned out fuse (fuse #6 in underhood fuse block), a faulty circuit or a faulty relay (underhood fuse block)(can try an other similar relay to verify). You can also try to bypass the starter circuit by simply using a screwdriver to jump the current from the positive pole (big red wire) to the "s" pole (small purple wire) of the starter. Use caution cause sparks will fly and engine may start. If the engine starts, then you know for sure the trouble is in the control circuit.
Third, verify that you hear the starter solenoid clic when you start. Have one of you're buddys start the truck and listen for a loud and clear clic (It is realy loud) If it does not clic at all or is not loud, and all the wiring and relay is ok, then the starter may be the cause (usualy only the solenoid gives away, witch can be changed seperatly)
Good luck, hope this will help

New battery - security light falhes, starter

Your problem is either 1 a bad earth or feed wire on battery or engine ,,as the battery you say is new its either battery term poss or neg (if getting hot when trying to start )dirty term..check red lead on starter motor and black lead on earth on engine block.
So check battery posts and leads and starter motor
Then check Alternator feed wire from battery .
Then turn on H/ lights and try starting with key turned for 10 seconds if lights go out and dont get hot posts then the battery isent any good.
Let me know how you go and give me more information A.S.A.P Ron

I replaced starter and still wont turn over

I'll bet their is a starter relay that is bad and not letting current get to your starter. You should take a multimeter or test light and check the positive cable on the starter while someone is trying to start your car. I'll bet their is no juice getting to your starter.

You might be able to follow the positive cable and locate the relay yourself.

Darn I wish I could be of more assistance.

You might try going to a parts store and try to purchase a starter relay for your vehicle and if one comes up in the system a lot of times it will show the parts store guy(on his computer) where exactly this part is located on your car.

Thats what I would do. You can go to the parts store get the part you need and have him tell you where its at so you can change it.

A lot of times the parts store guys are pretty knowledgable and can give you some ideas as well.

Well good luck,

If I've helped with your problem please give me a fixya rating and THANKS!
