First of all its a 12voltplus system.as the battery has more then 12 volt output charge.its a definate 12voltplus system--
A good place to start would be the Distributor cap, rotor, and coil. ---
The problem is most likely your fuel pump, which is located inside the gas tank. --
Check for loose or corroded battery cablesCould be alternator is not fully charging battery - check with a voltmeter.A fully charged battery should read approx. 12.8 volts without engine running - should read approx 13.8-14.2 with engine runningCould be a bad starter or starter solenoid ------to check the spark at the spark plug follow this -------The easiest way is to pull the boot off the spark plug and hold it about 1/4" from the spark plug and have someone turn the key and crank the engine in short bursts. If you have spark you will see it jump from the boot to the spark plug.Even better is to get an inexpensive ignition tester - around $5-6. Don't use them often, but very handy to have the definitive answer.
Please do rate the solution. Thank you for using fixya.keep updated. thanks.

Its a 12 V system ...to see if you have spark ...remove one of the spark plug ...let the pipe on ...and stik it to the side of the engine to make contact ...after that try to ignite ..it will show you little sparks on the head of the spark plug....if you do not have any ...its the ignition system t blame ...and cause its an electronic assistance ...its more tricky ...but in general this is the easiest way ... ..beware ..cause even if its a low voltage ..it has a pretty high amperage and it might shake you a little ...ware a rubber glove

if you have spark ...and its still not working ...its a matter of fine tuning on the timming ...meaning that its sparks on the wrong piston time..if you do not know much about ...just get some help ...cause if you do not know what are you doing ..you can out of hand it worse...
also ..look maybe its just flooded ...or has no compresion ...

Plug one spark plug, ground it to the engine, crank and see if it has spark. See if plug was wet when removed could be flooding with fuel due to carb float stuck or dirty.

74 bonniville only runs on left side, new boyer ignition, new coils 6 volt ,new wires new plugs...new gas and filter

Only one side of engine runs? Could be a head gasket problem on the right. It is a mechanical issue, not an electronic or electrical possibility as in newer cars. Do a compression test of the engine to see if the right side has compression failure from a bad head gasket.
A 1974 model would be a 12 volt system, not 6 volts. The last 6 volt systems were in the 1950's. If your coil is 12 volt and the left side runs and fires good, there is nothing wrong electrically. Check for spark on the right side, it should have spark on all cylinders if good spark on the left side. If no spark on the right side,. maybe a problem with the rotor or the distributor cap.

It sounds to me like your not getting fuel from the gas tank. Have you checked your fuel pressure to see if it is getting fuel to the carb ? Also on some of the Briggs motors the carb has a solinoid on the bottom of the carb bowl that shuts the fuel supply off when the key is turned to the off possition to prevent back fire through the exaust when you shut the machine off after use. Check to see if there is power to it with a 12 volt test light while cranking it over.

98 ford exp. No kind of problem before .turns over fine has gas .will not start .what part of firing system do I need to start

You only have the coils to check. Pull a plug to check for spark. Pull the plugs on the coils to check for 12 volts. Also check the fuseb7b46a2a-2c12-4cda-8528-14c37e370d4a.gif 359b95e3-ff19-404f-97cc-9f2a36268f94.gif

90cc quad chinese wont fire. New battery cleaned the carb the 2 jets and the little one that is on the float. Compression is fine and spark is fine. It cranks and cranks but will not start. So its getting...

just for fun, while you're cranking it put your hand over the intake of the carb completely covering it and see if your hand gets wet with gas. this might even start it too.

Husqvarna 51 died and wont restart

hi
if you have a good compression,a strong enough blue spark and carburetion for the fuel air mixture try priming the engine(put small amount of gas in the spark plug hole)then start the engine. If the engine runs only the gas you put inside the cilinder there is a carburetion problem to find and fix.
let me know regards savumihai71

My 2002 polaris trailblazer wont start it has fire

If you have oil and gas and it will fire then try a new plug. A bad plug when removed will appear to be fine but under compression can fail.

Also try a splash of good gas in the throat of the carb or intake (if fuel injected) with a new spark plug. My bet is it fires just fine.

If this is a fuel injector type engine you could have a bad injector control unit or a clogged injector.

If it fires with gas in the intake manifold then suspect carb or injector system. (which ever applies)

Thanks for using FixYa!

Poulan wood shark 1950 wont start spark plug has

Try to squirt a little gas in the carb and see if it pops or tries to run for a short time. The diaphram in the carb is probably old and hard. That would be the first place I would look.
