Question about 1987 Honda NSR 250 MC 16

Ihave honda nsr 250 mc 18 and im trying to install the PGM-CDI put idont know where i put it and the icant pluc it in the wire harness cause there is no place

I know that the mc18 has the pgm2 under the seat(pillion)and it is simply a plug in plug out unit,and i am fairly sure the mc16 is the same..hope this helps

Is there a trick to kick starting my nsr 250??


I stand on the left hand side of my bike and lean over the seat.
I then use my hand to start my MC 16. Every one thinks it is funny but my legs are too long and the kick stater is too short. I hope this is what you meant.

hi,originals are getting hard to find now,if you go onto,TRADEME.CO.NZ,there is a guy in the motorcycle parts for sale who does very nice replicas that you would not be able to tell them apart from the originals..cheers

impossible buddy a 125 is a smaller piston than a 250 just buy a nsr 250 piston

I can only locate 1 spark plug on my nsr 250 mc18 it is behind the front wheel were is the other one ??


lift the fuel tank off,the plug and rear cylinder is underneath the tank,your bike is a 90 degree v twin,the one behind the front wheel is the front cylinder,you can also see the rear cylinder by following the left hand expansion chamber from the rear of the bike to the front ,where the pipe finishes you will find the rear cylinder

you don't give much information on how the bike is running.  But most times when there is a performance decease it is best to clean the fuel system.  Spray some Gum Out or similar product( I prefer Deep Creep and Sea Foam) in the carb. then follow up with some in the tank.  Also change the fuel filter.

I have a 1993 Honda NSR 250 2 stroke and it seams to run fine until i lean it to the rite and when i do it cuts out with the oil light flashing on for a split of a sec can you tell me what this is


Hi and welcome to FixYa,

You have two (2) concerns and are interrelated to each other:
  • lean right, oil light comes on - the 2T oil reservoir on most NSR designs would be attached to the right side, relatively high on the frame;
  • on leaning towards the right, the contents of this reservoir would be displaced because of the angle. The 2T oil level sensor/switch would erroneously sense low or no 2T oil condition while thus leaned;
  • this sensor/switch marked "Oil Level Switch" is connected to two (2) wires Green/Red and Green (ground);
  • the false "low or no 2T oil" would trigger the "Low Oil/Ignition Warning" light to glow red; simultaneously
  • the other Green/Red wire would go and trigger the PGM-III to switch OFF, hence the engine cutout.
Solution would be to fill the reservoir with appropriate 2T oil.
