Question about 1999 Suzuki GSX 750 F (Katana)
How do i ease front caliper pistons
i have been told i need to clean them with wet and dry
what is the worse case senario
I had this problem with my 900 Diverstion, the piston wouldn`t move and the pads weren`t in contact with the disc allowing it to rust. What I did was I got a thin screwdriver and dipped it into engine oil, placed the screwdriver over the slot between the caliper and piston (This minimses oil getting on the disc and pads) then I got some gas pliers and slowly pushed the piston back, Make sure you do this evenly by moving the pliers around pushing on different parts of the piston so that it goes back into the caliper straight or you`ll damage both the piston and caliper. I repeated the numerous times by pressing the brake lever, this brought the piston back out. Keep an eye on the brake fluid level andDon`t let it come out too far or you`ll have a hell of a job getting the piston back in to the caliper and then you`ll have replace the seals and you`ll have to bleed the system. If your bike is like mine with a double front disc, only remove one caliper at a time because you`ll push the piston out of the other caliper as well. I did this about 12 months ago, I`ve had no problems since and it`s passed an MOT since. I hope this helps. Ian
