Best practice is to treat the old ECU as if it is in good working order.

Disconnect the battery and wait about half an hour before disconnecting and removing the ECU. Once disconnected do not touch any of the exposed pins except for any necessary cleaning when you should be firmly grounded.

!992 is late enough to have a passive anti-theft system installed and if so the ECU is likely to be coded. Any replacement will need to be decoded or recoded before it will work.

The fuel pump and fuel filter are under the car in front of the fuel tank mounter to a metal tray. A really easy job to replace. the pump is in a rubber noise and vibration insulator bracket, it is like a tube shape

You mean 400E I hope and its on the drivers side near the strut mount and may look like a big tire assembly to fill with air.
