Check that the floats in the float bowl are not stuck. Try tapping the carb at the bottom this sometimes is enough to sort problem out

Hi urfkel,

keep the carb tight but breathable.
change the gasket and the replace the tubes. KMX oem carbs are pretty good, just have to take care of it with the right tuning and perioding cleaning.

Leaks gas from under gas tank 2002 road king

You have a hole in your gas tank or your gas lines are dry rotted. If your fuel injected, you should replace your hoses. If it is carbureted, you could have a bad petcock get yourself a bar soap, and we think it's leak in. Just pack it with soap. It's a leak stops. That's where it is. Before you do anything. No decrease it and clean it, so you can see where the leak starts from

93 ford ranger 4.0 4x4 manual tranny. has absolutely no horsepower. Loud hissing from tranny area on passenger side, can't find any misplaced vaccum lines.

Sure sounds like you described a major vacuum leak. When I cant find them, I spray Carb cleaner in the area of the hiss with engine idling, if RPM increases some you have a leak, if engine dies you have a bad leak.Since I dont know if your engine is carbureted or fuel injected, not much else I can suggest.

Starting flooded engines

Is it carburetted or is it EFI to start with?? Carburetted try starting with WOT, EFI rty with closed throttle.

Is your air filter plugged/dirty???

If EFI do you have a leaking injector(s)

If carburetted is the enrichener leaking, not fully off, is the accelerator pump system leaking, is the float level too high, there are numerous reasons for flooding, is the fuel valve in the PRI position, is the fuel valve diaphragm punctured etc. etc.

POST again with a lot more information PLEASE.

How to repair back firing?

Backfiring during deceleration is caused by even small leaks in the headpipe and/or rich carburetion. I suggest checking your pipe for leaks and look into your jetting.

Some occassional backfiring is typical.

1987 Buick LeSabre is idling too fast

Check for vacuum leaks. I find mine with spray carbureter cleaner. Engine will speed up when leak is found. Check the hose from the cruise control to the three way tee. The black tee turns grey and falls apart resulting in a vacuum leak. Should be on drivers side firewall.
