Recently, my fridge started making a ping sound several times per minute, apparently whenever the compressor turns on and off because I hear a relay click also. I took the cover off of the control box above the fridge and found a circuit board with a piezoelectric buzzer, and I think the ping sound is coming from this buzzer. Does anyone know how I can fix this myself? I am comfortable replacing circuit boards and even components on circuit boards. At this point, however, I'm not sure if it's this circuit board or a different component, like a sensor, that is failing, and I don't know how to get another circuit board. Help?

Jan 7, 2015 - We have a KitchenAid built-in KBLS36FKX02 that started beeping every few ... I called KitchenAid to see if I could schedule an authorized repair ... So... the fridge is working fine -- the only issue is the constant beeping. Is there ...
Sounds like you have a valve slap. First let your car cool for an hour and check your oil level, and transmission fluid if you have one... if they are good, see if the noise starts right away when you fire up listen to see if it starts as soon as the fan starts. .... a lot of fans have an auto engage on the rad fan... when they wear out they will try and engage and you will get a ping ping sound as the hub try to do its job and start the fan.... I have also seen a stick get caught up under the car and just barely touch the fan so that every time it rotated....ping ping...

Sounds Like Pre-detention, or often called Engine Ping, sometimes sounds like a diesel engine in severe cases. Caused by fuel igniting to early which makes the ping sound. possible cause might be to high of a heat range on spark plugs , or ignition timing is a bit advanced, or just poor fuel quality. That is just off the top of my head, hope it helps.
The knocking noise when cuts off , is a compressor internal motor support spring , broken . This does not mean the compressor is bad , only noisy for the rest of the compressor life , but should be covered under the 5 yr warranty . The gurgling sound is the refrigerant being pumped thru the system . The buzzing could be from the compressor also . My suggestion , would be to call a factory warranty company , to see if they can replace the compressor under warranty .
I am having the same problem. I don't know if it's normal or what. Just got the fridge about a month ago. Maytag french door freezer on bottom. Every so often--I guess when it comes on like you say, it really does sound like a bouncy ball or ping pong ball...
if you hear a clicking like the compressor is trying to start, like a clicking on and off this sounds like it could be your start run relay trying to kick your compressor on. if this is bad it will continue to click, and your compressor won't start. unless your mechanically inclined this might be the time to call a service tech. the start run relay switch sits on the compressor behind the fridge.
