SOURCE: Gear shifter will not go into park

There is a plastic actuator stick under the shift knob. Remove the "horse shoe" clip from the shift knob and remove knob by pulling strait up. You can twist it right and left a very small amount to loosen the knob, but not much.
Once you have the shift knob removed you will see the plastic actuator stick. Push down on the stick and put shift lever in park. If that works, the shift knob or stick is worn out.
Let me know.
Regard,

SOURCE: accelerated clicking/knocking noise when i start driving

sounds like your CV joints are worn out. If the clicking noise gets worse when turning then its a definite possibility. Also check the CV joint boots for splits as this can quickly wear them out. The dust mixes with the grease to form a grinding paste.

SOURCE: Car won't accelerate

It is possible the crossed jumper cables may have damaged the ECM (engine control module).
You can try disconnecting the negative battery cable for 5 minutes and reconnecting. Start the car and drive over 45mph for 3 miles, and see if the performance improves.
If the car still does not perform properly, have the car scanned for trouble codes. Take the vehicle to your local Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts and ask them to scan the car for codes, they will do it for you at no charge. Write the codes down and respond back.
Good luck, let me know.

SOURCE: my GMC has 311632 miles on it. I just changed the

The transmission may be in Limp mode. The transmission is on the same fuse as the MAF, O2 sensors and at least one other sensor - if an O2 shorts out, it will blow the fuse and the trans will go into limp-home mode. Be sure the trans has power and the fuse is not blown before doing anything else.

What is "limp-home mode" ? This is a fault mode in which the transmission either loses electrical power or the PCM deactivates all of the electronics. The transmission will default to max line pressure. The driver will have Reverse and 3rd, with manual 2nd available by putting the gearshift in 2 or 1 (doesn't matter). 1st, 4th, and TCC lockup will not be available. It will not hurt the car to drive it like this for short periods, but use manual 2nd to get the car moving, and be aware that the trans will generate more heat than normal while operating in limp-home mode due to increased torque converter slippage during 2nd gear starts and no lockup in 3rd gear.

Trans does not upshift out of first, speedometer reads zero at all times: VSS failure. Easy fix on rear of transmission, but xmember must come out to access VSS.

Car goes into gear but feels very sluggish like the brakes are dragging, but it will roll easily (starts out in 4th gear), you manually shift to 2 to get it moving, once it's moving you put it back in OD and the car shifts 3rd to 4th on its own and locks the converter at the appropriate time: ShiftB solenoid failed: Easy fix in the pan. Or a wiring problem from PCM to trans.. or PCM.

No 1st or 4th available; trans shifts 2nd to 3rd by itself in D or OD and locks the converter : ShiftA solenoid failed. Easy fix in the pan. Or a wiring problem from PCM to trans.. or PCM.

Transmission does not shift automatically, only manually. Swap in a known-good PCM, check wiring, check other sensors such as VSS and TPS.

3rd gear starts, can manually shift through all gears. When car has been turned off for a bit, then back on it will run normally.: VSS dropoff w/ Hi-stall converter. The rpms are too high, but VSS is showing no movement. Happens after a tire burning take-off. Doesn't store a code, will not throw a CEL (I've heard that it will store a code if it happens 3 or more times). Cure: Reprogram PCM for VSS dropoff -- PCMforLess knows about it.

Here are just some of the common things you have described with the issues your transmission has. Good luck and keep me posted.

High revs in park and neutral

What is the car? This sounds like it could be a throttle position sensor, (TPS). This monitors how hard you are pressing the gas pedal and if it is faulty it won't be reading the pedal movement correctly. Other symptoms are uneven idle and the acceleration isn't smooth or even.

Have a 2006 Kia rio5 SX gas pedal feels like it sticks when accelerating in first gear.

If it feels good in other gears you may have a broken motor mount. Do this lift and support the hood then have someone watch the engine as you Set the parking brake hard then put the shifter in 2nd gear then rev the engine while letting out the clutch then do the same thing in reverse, there is no measurement for this but I can guarantee you won't forget it if you see a bad mount. You may also try to lube the cable. I hope this helps. Take care.

I own a cadillac cts 2005 my car will not accelerate when gas pushed Starts great & goes into gear

What do you mean it doesn't accelerate? Will it accelerate at all, like gradually build up speed when driving? Or do you mean it doesn't drive at all? Does it rev while in neutral/park or out of gear?

Hi Cindy, need to check and see if the belt is turning tightly, they may have not done it,to check, open hood, start engine, leave in park,go to engine, find accelerator cable and rev up gas and see if belts are turning tightly,or have someone rev gas in car and someone watch. Also look around engine to see if they let something out of place, you never know these days, even at dealers.

Engine revs but no acceleration

Clutch plate and pressure plate seem to be too weak to pull the car. Or one of the CV joints is detached from the gear box. To test the clutch plate, park the car on flat surface. Pull the hand brake up, start the car, depress the foot brake pedal, depress the clutch pedal, put the car in 1st gear, press the gas pedal and leave the clutch pedal at once, while keeping the brake pedal depressed.
Follow one of the two following statements:
1. Engine does not shut down and remain start. (Clutch plate, pressure plate and clutch bearing defective - Replace all as a set)
2. Engine shuts down. (Clutch system is OK and does not require any repair).

My Sable will turn on fine but when i try shifting the gear they won't go in the shifter just glides along and the car remains idle. The day it started doing this it made a loud screeching noise and...

If the shifter moves but does not feel like it is trying to put car in gear the cable that goes from the shifter to the transmition could have broke or came loose. If that happened while driving the gears may have tried to shift when tension was released from the cable.
