Why does my 96 Cadillac Eldorado battery keep discharging?

First step have the battery tested, a bad cell can cause a internal drain and kill the battery, if the batt is ok then check for interior lights like visors that stay on or interior light that come on by themselves at night due to defective door switches.

My car keeps cutting off in the middle of the road while I'm driving. What could be the problem. I have 85,000 miles on my car. I've changed the oil and had the transmission fluid changed as...

Why would you tell us about engine oil & trans fluid changes?

Out with the old oils & in with the new ?

I would lean towards a fuel pump binding up & stopping
fuel,thus the car shuts off

Only one suggestion, could be other causes

I purchased a GM Certified 2008 Escalade in April 2010 and I haven't driven the SUV for over a month. Today I turned the key and get nothing. I think I need a new battery?

Great SUV and hopefully factory warranty to 100,000 miles included...Your battery can certainly lose it's charge when not being driven over a month. Your Escalade has many advanced electronic safety features. These continually drain the battery when not being re-charged while driving...First try to jump start your car from another car (that is running) to see if the battery might be saved...You could have developed a bad cell while in non-driving mode...Hope your battery is still rechargeable...If not, you should purchase the largest cca rated battery for your Escalade. These more powerful batteries can take more than a standard battery...Look for at least a 1000 cca (cold cranking amp) rating. Hope this helps. Delco, Autozone, Walmart, and Costco have the best pricing...not in that order..

Lights dimmed out, engine died, battery new but not charging2004 ford explorer

have the alternator tested if your SUV has over 40.000 miles on it replace the drive belt as well also give these websites a try www.alldatadiy.com and www.autozone.com if all fails stop by your local library and get your hands on a Haynes auto repair manual for your SUV wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.

I have a 2007 GMC Envoy. I've had to jumpstart the SUV for the last 2 days. Could it be the battery?

Either the battery, the battery cables/connections, the alternator or alternator cables/connections (in the extreme a drain could cause battery discharge). Have battery tested. Look for signs of corrosion around cables. If vehicle won't start after sitting but will restart when turned off, suspect battery. If won't restart after driving, suspect alternator.

Steering (knuckle) appears to be loose - is there an adjustment?

I think you'll find that you need to replace the CV (Constant Velocity) joints. I doubt very much if there is any adjustment possible. They do wear out after a period of time, and 85,000 miles is good life for CV joints. Cheers from Aus.

DISCHARGE WARNING LIGHT ON

It might leave you stranded. Because without the alternator. which I think is your problem your battery will run down in a very short time. Even if you had a new battery.Check the belt first as Toyota Ed suggested. If it's good, and not broken. Replace the alternator and if you have to, the battery also. One could affect the other.
