Question about 2005 Suzuki Boulevard S83

1 Answer

I have just purchased an '05 S83 Boulevard and haven't ridden a shifter bike in years. Should I take off in lst Gear (lst is down) or in normal street driving is it alright to take off in 2d?

ride my 2005 S83 1400cc Boulevard one day and then go to start the next day and it just won't start. I have it on a trickle battery charger. The engine turns over but won't fire. Checked all the normal things but nothing helps.

It's rough on the clutch to use 2nd gear to get off the line. I'd always use 1st at first.

Replace battery Suzuki S83 Boulevardt's your problem?

For what it's worth, the generator/stator went bad on my 2005 Suzuki Boulevard S83 and it is located under the left hand case cover. You can test it under the seat there is a plug with 3 yellow wires. Unplug it, start the bike, using a voltmeter, you should get at least 80 AC volts from the plug. That comes from the generator/stator, then it goes on to the regulator/rectifier which converts it to DC to charge the battery and run the bike.

The motorcycle has a kickstand kill switch that prevents the bike from moving with the kickstand down.

Lifter noise

Could be that the bike has been ridden a little hard; could be dirty oil. Put a cleaning additive in your oil, idle bike for 10 - 15 min drain oil replace filter, add new oil - good stuff- and see if they quiet down.

My 2005 c90t boulevard "clunks" when I shift. It,s worse upshifting but happens downshifting as well. This happens around 90% of the time. I've only had the bike for 6 weeks so I don't know if this is...

Because the clutch is a wel clutch it needs some revs behind it. On the upshift try to preload the shifter, in other words pull slightly on the shift leaver before pulling the clutch in. This should stop the clunk on the upshift. On the down shift try to give it a rev just before pushing the lever down, the idea being that there are some extra revs to assist the gear change. I gather the bike is reasonably new, this is pretty normal and will loosen up as the bike runs in. If it is worrying you, mention it at your next service as the clutch plated could be dragging causing too much load to shift correctly.

Instructions for using gears on 12 speed Mesa runner

Not familiar with the exact model of bike but normally you start riding in a low gear. As you wish to speed up or find it easy to push the pedals just change up in gear and keep pedaling and the gear chain will move to the next gear cog. The secret is to keep pedaling when you select a gear either up or down and the gear will change. Hope this is of benifit.
