Is the air bag symbol lit on the instrument cluster ? If so your problem is with the clock spring inside the steering column . I suggest you take this to a ASE certified repair shop or the dealer > If you don't know about disabling the air bag system before messing with the cruise control buttons .You can accidentally deploy the air bag in the steering wheel ,an people have been killed messing with what they don't know about . I been fixing vehicles for over thirty years ,an I work for Chevy . I have not seen wires come loose .Those buttons receive voltage from the BCM - body control module , when you use those buttons they input to same BCM . Myself I would hook up tech 2 scan tool an check for those inputs to the BCM .

My horn isn't working on a Chevy equinox but it's a new horn. What could be wrong with it..and my cruise control don't qork. Is it my steering wheel?

Was Cruise Control working before the New Horn was installed? The power supply to the Horn, (input to ground wire) is connected to the Cruise Control Module (CCM). This CCM is wired to the Relay Switch Box located in the Engine Bay. The Relay Box cover will have a Chart indicating what function each Relay coresponds to. Your local autoparts store (AutoZone) can test the Relay Switch, and you'll know (if any Relay) need to be replaced.

The CCM is also wired to the Steering Wheel, but first passes through the Clock Spring Coil, located just behind the Steering Wheel. The Clock Spring allowes for the Function Buttons on the Steering Wheel to have power while Steering Wheel spins.

The Clock Spring can malfunction or break, its rare, but this will cut power to the Function Buttons on Steering Wheel. If ALL the buttons on Steering Wheel dont work, then the Clock Spring is the Culprit. The Coil may need to be replaced.

The Cruise Control Module itself may have failed and also would cause a few or all Steering Wheel Functions to quit working.

But first check the Relay Switch Box and examine the Harness Cables connecting (Steering Wheel--to--CCM--to--Relay Switch Box--to--Battery Supply).

Also if Cruise Control was working before the new Horn was installed and now not working, then most likely the Problem is a bad wire connection somewhere and/or is a faulty Relay.

Horn and cruise control stop working

There is a device called a "clock spring" inside the steering wheel/column. It contains all the various wires to the buttons on the steering wheel. Sometimes these clock springs that wind and unwind every time the steering wheel is used simply wear out or break causing the problem you cite - no electricity gets to the buttons on the steering whell. Replacing the "clock spring" is mildly expensive. Parts and labor about 400-500 bucks.

Cruise control stopped working

You cant upgrade to HID lights on your car without the proper wiring right? Same with anything electrical in a vehicle if your vehicle didn't have all these extra buttons then your controlling unit for these devices are not compatible and not gonna work. Different units/different functions. You need to have the proper wiring harness for that wheel and the brain that operated all those buttons. Your airbag isn't recognized that's why you have the light on!!!

2001 Grand Caravan, Cruise control and buttons on ...

Look inside on the drivers side for the fuse/relay panel under the dash. To get to the panel, remove the lower steering column cover and kneepad. You will see the panel and everything is marked so you can check the correct fuse or relay. Use a test light to do all of your testing. Also under the hood on some models are more fuses and relays controlling other options on the van. Remove the cover and look inside cover for the correct location of the fuse and relay. Hope this will help you.

I need to repace the cruise control switch how do I get the horn cover off

1. Remove the lower steering column cover.
2. Remove the AIR BAG bolts from the back side of the steering wheel with a T-30 socket. Install the bolts back in the air bag for reassembly. The AIR BAG will snap into place when pushed down on carefully.
3. Remove 2 screws on the bottom of the steering wheel cover. The wires need to slide out so the switch can be removed.
4. Remove the cruise control switches.

The AIR BAG does not have to be disconnected to remove the switches, just don't let it flop around or stretch the wires.
