Question about 2004 kawasaki GPZ 500 S - GPX 500 R

Engine surging/hunting on a 1996 GPZ 500 between 5 and 6 thousand revs. OK up to and beyond that rev range. Help please!

Check carbs and throttle, clean float chamber. Jets are factory fixed so try second hand carbs rather than mess with these

Starts ok, although seems to be missing slightly, sluggish throttle response and wont rev beyond 4 thou ,


Check plugs, may be fouled> When storing bikes in my old mans garage, the plugs always foul

2001 buick century if throttled up at the engine runs great but if throttled up by the throttle pedel it begins to surge


This car should have a throttle positioning sensor. Have you had the codes run on your vehicle. Free at most local auto parts centers

As Always,variations in RPMs call for looking for a vacuum leak.If none found,clean the MAF sensor with brake cleaner spray and let dry totally.don-ohio

I have a gpx600r on a g plate which on low revs


first do a compreshion test on the engine it may be one of the pots is low on compreshion,, ie: a velve has burnt out or is leaking badly or it may be that the carbereters need to be striped down and the slow running jets need to be cleaned out,, if its a slow running jet blocked it wont run at low revs on that pot

Engine speed hunts on idle. Auto trans slow shift.


The fast idle valve is inside the throttle body. Sometimes it backs out and needs turned back in (it's threaded). This will cause the loping idle.

Get transmission filter changed with new fluid. Honda does not recommend transmission flushing.

sounds like you need to have carb rebuilt, or have a vacuum leak
