Silvery grey is normal with oil change colour (theres a lot of moving parts wearing (clutch etc.)

frothy water could mean-

replace you head rubbers (both) ,

does the radiator empty?

inner water pump seal

I have 1990 accord lx 5speed that is stuck in 4th gear but the shifter moves in all gears..To get home I had to ride the clutch in 4th all the way home..Checked the links from shifter to trans everything...

Do you still feel the same feedback from gear lever when you change gear or it appear loose? It looks like a gearbox problem, maybe due to low gearbox oil something has broken inside the gearbox.

2009 Yamaha yZ250 4th gear keeps getting hot and galling

Hi, Msportum5618 and I have been told, read, ridden, and believe the Yamaha YZ250 is an ICON and one of the greatest dirt bikes ever made. Any bike is subject to failure, especially competitive performance machines. The oil type is not the issue the usual suspects are:
1. Incorrect transmission oil level.
2. The oil delivery system to the shaft is malfunctioning.
3. The shaft is bent, runout should be 0.002" max bearing/running surface damaged/galled or has lost its hardness due to excessive heat/blue color and gear failure, a new replacement recommended.
For this scenario, you will need your service/owners manual if you can't find the best tool you ever bought for your Yamaha, despair not, for a mere zero $0 you can download another one. Need to know how much oil goes in the gearbox of a 1999 yz250

Here are the specs for 2003 Yamaha YZ250 gearbox: Periodic oil change 0.75 L (0.66 Imp qt, 0.79 US qt)
Total amount 0.80 L (0.70 Imp qt, 0.85 US qt).

I know it stinks that it can't be a round number but those are the specs. I hope this helps you out.

'Sticky' gearbox on 2004, 1200 Bandit

Have had the smaller brother of this bike, here is what I found, try using 10W40 full synthetic oil, make sure the clutch is adjusted exactly right, if that doesn't help the engagement dogs are worn and u need an overhaul, which isn't that hard, about 10 hours work and $200 in parts.

Sounds like the gearchange friction bands or actuators are sticking, but the solution is probably to change the gearbox oil - maybe more than once - to clean up the gearbox. This can produce miracles, as all the sliding hydraulic actuators depend on it.

Auto transmition wont go into 3rd and 4th gear

I had the same problem I changed the transmission fluid & put a new filter in the trans, this fixed it good until I put my foot down to overtake the trans kicked down to 2nd gear & the hold light started flashing again & the trans started slipping again. I stressed over it for a day or 2 & then I took it out for a drive & thrashed it, Low & behold it came right. When you change fluid its impossible to get all the old fluid out because the torque converter holds a liter or two under pressure, so when I put my foot down some of the gunk blew through & blocked the pump it looses pressure & cant change gear. You need to get it flushed by a transmission specialist

Oil is a grey colour in the engine of my yz 125 2001

Your bike is water cooled. Some of that water is leaking into the gear box. The cylinder gasket is the likely leak. I would let the shop take a look at it instead of trying to fix it yourself.

But be sure there is not an external source for the water. Do you wash the bike often? Ride the creek bed often? Leave the bike where the lawn sprinkler gets the bike wet? Leave it out in the rain? Change the oil and keep the bike dry. If the problem comes back then go see the dealer.
