Try and check the three things you mst have to run. Fuel/air mixture;compression(and correct timing);and spark.
Pull a spark plug and hold to cylinder and check for spark. Make sure you smell fuel present. You should be able to hear if the compression sounds normal.

My starter on my 2003 harley softail has been acting up,sometimes making grinding?????? noises, now it won`t engage to start the engine? any ideas.......thanks

If the starter just spins but doesn't turn the engine over, it's probably your "over running clutch" that's bad. You can replace that part and save yourself some money if you know how to do it. But, if you've got to pay shop labor rates, just purchase a new starter. The time involved taking the starter apart and replacing the clutch will eat up any savings you might have realized.

Good Luck

Oil levek

On my 89 heritage flstc, with a 3 quart oil tank, I use just about 2.75 quarts to allow for expansion. Also I scratched a mark on the dip-stick to let me know if it gets too low
