Question about 2002 Yamaha TT-R 225

2 Answers

2000 Yamaha TW 200 lacks power, has a high speed miss. Dealer can't find, has thrown in the towel. I am a professional MC mechanic with over 30 years, I have tried every thing I can think of. Same symptoms over a year, this is a stumper. Dealer replaces stator assy, I thououghly checked carb & jets. The exhaust header gets red in 60 secs at 1/8 throttle no load. Riding up hills on a hot day is a killer. More info available

Your timing may have skipped a tooth. This causes the glowing pipe. Ther are 3 positions that look like tdc. The flywheel has "I" "T" and range marks. This can be confusing. Put the "T" on the mark and you will run perfect. If not you can set it up one tooth or down one from that position. One setting makes the bike run like ****, the other one is barely noticeable more or less power. You may have to play with it a bit to get it right. If your pipe still glows after redoing your timing then your can change up your jet to a higher flow. Usually a performance filter will lean out the mix causing a red pipe. To much fuel just fouls the plug. I deleted my filter box and put a cone K&N filter. I had to jet my carbs to compensate for all the extra air flow. The bike had more power after I did this. The main jet I used was 127 or some where around there, the stock jet is 115 I think.

To much gas would never make you glow. Timing being off or being to lean will.

If your header is glowing red, you are getting way too much gas in the cylinder, and it is burning it in the pipe. You either have a misadjusted float, or your timing is off. You could be as little as a tooth off, and have a problem. I would suspect the carb flooding more so.

I need instructions on how to adjust a carburador in a yamaha Tw 2001

Turn the throttle screw and air screw inward until they LIGHTLY seat. Now open each of them one and one half turns. This is the factory setting. Now set the desired idle speed and then adjust the air screw for the fastest idle speed at the current throttle screw setting. If now too fast, reset the throttle and then reset the air screw to match.

This is about the tw 200 high beam, new bulb still doesn't seem to have any current to the yellow wires. One goes to high beam indicater, which by the way that bulb is burned out, the other goes to high...

If you have low beam then you have power to your handle bar switch, and if you have no power coming from the yellow wire from the handle bar switch, replace it.

Yamaha TW 200 starts but won't run.

If the bike has sat for a long period of time without being run - the gas that is sitting in the carb(s) will shellac.. Then the carb(s) would need to be cleaned and "rebuilt"..

Yamaha TW 200 cuts out at high rpm

I have a tw200 and when I have this problem its from the cam chain slipping back a notch when I unload it from my truck. I leave it in gear so when I let off the cluch it acts as a brake. I ride by my self so thats why I load it that way. I am guessing you load and unload your tw the same way. So remove the timing cover and make sure you are tdc on both the upper and lower timing marks. The bike will run if the timming is off a bit. It's really easy to set the timing on these bikes. It's easier to look for how to on the xt 200 if you need more help.
