Hi

Your Honda Transalp has a well known problem with speedometer drive gear failure.

This is not a problem with the computer.

You will have to contact Honda directly and have the part sent to you. The part no. is 44806-KF0-000

It looks like this

hello, i just bought honda - 9fe7f9f.gif
You need to take the speedo drive off the wheel and then pull it off the drive cable. The problem is caused on this bike by the nylon gear teeth getting all chewed up and eventually the speedometer stops working.

Hope this helps. Please remember to rate my answer. Many Thanks.

    Hi

Yes - this is the part that causes the speedometer problem with the transalp. Let me know how you get on with the repair - I would be keen to hear how it goes - but remember the question will close in 7 days if it has not been rated.

    Kind Regards.

Oh yeah, it is possible. It is also possible to get some sort of certificate from the DMV stating the odomoter is messed up and what the actual mileage is. I have no idea what the proof you need for that is though. It can be reprogrammed if you find the right place with the right equipment.

but m again not sure.. u know its not that easy task.. if u talk about reset..it doesnt have meaning cos you speedo is still at 0 km.. so a big issue with your computer i guess U need to replace it..local doctors are not dat good in case of "Honda transalp 2009" but i dont think its gonna be difficult to find out some in Bali.. as many people do have such kinda Bikes around there.. so search around!!
Regards..

Honda transalp 700 manual

Hi, Anonymous the vast majority of service, parts fiche, and owners manuals on the internet are "FREE" to download and all service manuals contain wiring diagrams in the back pages. The rest usually charge a modest fee around $10 and there is a handful of obscure, rare, obsolete, and very old models that are no longer or never were available, for these rare occasions I shall look on eBay and find the cheapest one available. Most of the manuals will cover your exact make, model, and year otherwise one will be provided that comes as close as possible to your bike and will have most of the same info that an exact manual would have. If there is no $ sign after the manual link it is free to download for viewing or printing. To download your manual please click on the blue links below. Good luck and have a wonderful day

2010 Honda XL700V Transalp ABS fuel pump not working

Hi, Anonymous the following is a systematic procedure for diagnosing fuel pump issues designed to keep "DRACHMA" to a minimum. If you need parts check with Amazon and eBay first to keep costs down.
1. If your pump does not turn on check the pump fuse and relay and all wiring including connectors for corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets.
1. Normal fuel pump pressure is 3-5 PSI.
2. Check any rubber or plastic tubing for age-related pinholes by removing and plugging the ends that connect to the fuel valve and then turn on the ignition switch and watch for fuel streams exiting the pinholes, if any exist, replace tubing as necessary.
3. Check for a clogged a primary fuel filter that comes off the bottom of the pump to screen out big rocks and clean as necessary.
4. Check for a clogged secondary fuel filter that's outside if applicable by removing it from the system and replace it with a short splicing tube turn on the ignition switch and recheck fuel pressure if pressure increases to normal pressure you need a new secondary filter.
5. If all the above check out OK and the pump is not functioning properly then you need a new fuel pump.

I think I have an exhaust leak on my Transalp

Might be a drain. Next time you ride past the Honda shop, drop in and ask the friendly guy or gal behind the parts counter. I would expect to see some smoke after a prolonged out of service period.

Making friends at the parts counter will pay you BIG dividends in the future.

Transalp XL700V Headshake (shimmy)

there is not as much rake and trail on a dual sport as say a cruiser type making the straight line steering less stable at higher speeds than a bike w/ more rake and trail.,but on the other hand , much less steering effort and slow speed manueverability at lower speeds on the dual sport. raise front wheel up off ground and secure bike. come around to front of bike, kneel down and grab bottom of forks and pull & push front to back looking for steering stem bearing play if any tighten steering stem & recheck not too tight -steering should flop over when just off center ,if not -too tight loosen just enough.if still play after tightening, check bearing condition. also check front wheel bearing for play, and look for leaking fork seal, finally look for uneven tread wear caused by these conditions.make sure tire is properly inflated.
