Are there any set repair codes ? Check if a service is due, a worn or loose timing belt can alter ignition and valve timing and throw up a fault code, check when it was last changed.

have you changed the tires or rims from the original size?? If so, your vehicle's ECU will need to be re-calibrated so that the computer will adapt to these changes.

SOURCE: 2002 Toyota Rav4....check engine light""is

Here are two of the most common causes of the check engine light.

Most common, MAF ( mass air flow ), sensor. A faulty MAF prevents the computer from determining the correct fuel/air mix ratio.

Oxygen sensor. ( front and rear, front meaning before the catalytic converter, rear meaning after the catalitic converter. The front measures the fuel/air mix being sent through the catalitic converter, the back measures the emmisions and lets the computer know if any fuel/air mix ratios need to be adjusted. Both of these can trigger the check engine light.

I hope this helps you.

Check engine light blinking car shaking, oil light on after a few miles from starting

May be low oil, low oil pressure (faulty oil pump) or a bad pressure switch. When your at highway speeds the pump, pumps faster & brings the oil to the right PSI. Try a thicker oil than called for, get the oil pressure checked, oil leaks? & get the switch ckd out.

What's the proceedure for resetting the engine needs service light on a 2009 Corolla?

If it is the maintenance light you can press odometer stick down (leave it press) and switch your car on. You will see on the odometer display bars going higher, once it reaches the limit just release the odometer stick and switch your car off. You just reseted it to 5000 miles. Good luck

2009 toyota tacoma service engine light...how do i turn it off

if you are talking about the maintanence due, light it's quite simple; turn the key on' with the engine off. make sure that the odometer is in the odometer mode and not one of the trip settings. if it is in a trip setting reset to odometer mode. now turn the key off and push the the odometer reset button and hold it, turn on the key(don't release yet) and wait ill the odometer reads 000000. you are now done. if you are talking about the "check engine" or the "service engine soon"light, then your problems are a little more complicated then that and indicate that the computer has picked up a signal from one of the many sensors indicating a problem in one of the monitored systems. being as since this is a 2009 vehicle it should be under warranty regardless of weather you are the first owner or not as long as it's under 36,000 miles for non emission and 80,000 miles for emission related repairs

How to make the service engine light go out after a 5000 mile oil change.

These instructions were posted to reset the Maint Required light on a Toyota Sienna. Process should be the same for your Corolla. Best of luck and hope this answers your question.
Greg

  1. With the car started (ignition on), set the LCD odometer readout to total mileage (not trip A or B).
  2. Turn the car off (ignition key to the OFF position).
  3. Push in AND HOLD the button/knob that switches the odometer
  4. Turn key to ON position without starting the car. You will notice the maintenance light blink and go out.
  5. Release the odometer button/knob.
  6. Turn key to OFF position.
  7. That's it! The "MAINT REQD" light has been reset to warn you to change your oil in another 5,000 or 7,500 miles or so

Blue low engine coolant temperture indicator light is on

I also recently bought a 2002. According to the owner's manual the blue light does not indicate a problem unless it stays on after the car warms up. If you have an automatic it will not shift into fourth gear until the coolant warms up at which time the light should go off. Have only had the car for a week and notice the blue light goes off after a mile or two of driving in temperatures in the teens to 30's. I don't know how much outside temp affects it.

Engine check light on

My '06 Corolla's CHECK ENGINE light came on the other day and then went out after about a half hour. It was back on this morning and stayed on, and I noticed that the automatic transmission was shifting a bit more roughly than it ever had before. Took the car to a Toyota dealership immediately. The guy told me that Toyota has had an ongoing problem with the CHECK ENGINE light coming on due to a faulty CPU (car's computer "brain"). This has been affecting models from '05, '06, and '07 according to him. He said Toyota had extended the warranty for this particular part (i.e. the CPU) due to it being faulty. The warranty expires once you reach 80,000 miles, and my car has 87,000 miles on it (yes, I do drive that much for my job!). But the guy at the dealership was kind enough to put in a new CPU for free because I have been a good, loyal customer there. The CHECK ENGINE light is now off and it should stay that way.
