Yes, you can get a kit to rebuild the master cylinder. Talk to the parts department at your dealer to get the part number.

No brake fluid out of master cylinder to one front brake caliper


one of the pistons in the brake master cylinder is poss stuck at the bottom of its stroke or the return spring has broken, dont take any chances with brakes change that master cylinder

Trouble bleeding front brakes on GL1100 (1981), no apparent leaks & tried new master cylinder, any ideas please


If there is air in the master cylinder ,then it will not pump fluid. Try loosening the banjo bolt holding the brake line onto the master cylinder and pumping the lever a couple of times till the brake fluid gushes past the sealing washers. Then tighten the banjo bolt and bleed the lines. Once the master cylinder is pushing DOT 3/4 brake fluid then bleeding the lines should be easy.

Trying to bleed the front brake and having no luck. how is it done?


The reason the system will not pump fluid is because there is air in the master cylinder pump. Typically, air trapped in the master cylinder is the cause of the lack of pressure. Cover your paint and plastic first with a plastic bag and then with a towel in case of spillage. Now loosen the banjo bolt on the master cylinder just enough to let allow fluid to leak out when you pump the master cylinder. Pump the master cylinder until you get a big push of DOT 3/4 brake fluid at the banjo bolt(usually 2 or 3 pumps). Now tighten the banjo bolt and bleed the system (slave cylinder) to get the rest of the air out. Be careful to keep DOT 3/4 brake fluid in the reservoir. Do not pump it dry, if you **** air into the master cylinder you will have to start all over again.

If i replaced wheel cyinders an front breaks, still my brakes go all the way down..What could be the problem?


The Master Cylinder controls the pressure...if you just changed the brakes...the pedal will go to the floor until you pump them up...be sure you have the brake fluid reservoir full...the only other problem would be a brake fluid leak between the master cylinder and the front brake calipers...you will see the fluid leaking while someone pumps the brake for you...my bet from your description is the master cylinder is bad...no visual leaks or other symptoms...:)

Location of the brake fluid input


the brake fluid resivoir is above the master cylinder on the firewall. so on the left side near the windshield. the power steering resivoir is closer to the front end and is distinguished by not being connected to the master cylinder..

Yes, you can buy a master cylinder rebuild kit. If you can't find a rebuild kit the whole thing can also be replaced.

Unable to bleed front brakes


loosen the front brake line that goes to the master cylinder fill master cylinder up with fluid and bleed it first by attaching a flexible line from master cylinder front brake side submerge that line into jar of brakefluid keeping air from entering line get someone to pump brake pedal while ur holding line in a jar keep refilling the brake resivoir so no air gets in, once the master is bled front brake side then reattach the origional brake line then remove bleed screw from caliper and let fluid gravity flow down to calliper then bleed the normal way. more than likely your master cylinder has air trapped in the front portion good luck
