Sounds like the idle speed of your car is too low, then the alternator cannot produce enough voltage for any electrical devices. When idle speed is normal or much higher, power will return to normal very fast. It may be that the idle air control valve is dirty or defective.

SOURCE: Transmission down shifts hard

Check the trans fluid for quantity and color. If it is not a good red color, try having it changed and get the filter cleaned. If that looks okay, you may have a bad shift solenoid. Look for leaks around the trans case. Leaks on top around the solenoid are a sign that it is going bad.

1986. How do I remove oil pan gasket?

See if you can get a socket to tighten up the bolts. If not , a temporary fix may be to use a bottle of oil leak fix from an auto parts store. There is something in the liquid which causes the gasket to swell and slow down or stop oil leaks. Ive heard though that long term, this stuff can cause the gasket to eventually fail completely and will have to be changed anyway.

Upon slowing to stop complete temporary loss of electric power

Alternator would be the first part that I would suspect to be the problem. The battery, then an intermittent short in the electrical wiring would be the next place I would check out. Also check to make sure that the wires are securely tight on the battery too.

Vehicle sputters, bucks, occasionally dies out, rich exhaust fume

The MAF sensor is the likely problem. Ca be clraned w/crc electrical cleaner only. Do not touch , rub,or use compressed air to clean or dry. It's located in the intake duct in one of the metal sections. The plug and wires will give it away. Good Luck-Ned-

Loss of electrical power

think this a problem for dealer mechanic with product knowledge, because all lights coming on then loss of power sounds like it could be an ECU fault being triggered by a sensor,or just a component in the ECU breaking down .It would need the computer connecting then running till fault shows up .sorry i couldnt give an instant fix
