Well with the bike being over ten years old I imagine it has had tune up's along the way? If it has been a while since putting a tune up on it that would be a good start. With the age of the engine you may want to talk to your parts dealer and go with a slightly hotter spark plug. Do you ever run fuel cleaner? I have had this clear up odd issues with different bikes but they are all different.Add while thinking about fuel, have you had the fuel filter changed?

Engine compression is averaging 96-110, however very very difficult to start. carbs have been rebuilt.

Hi Bobby:
What engine is it?
I'd first be checking to make sure the plugs are clean, gapped properly, and that there is a hot blue spark.

Hi Jack and Jean, Do as I suggested already and see what comes up on the scanner. there may also be a problem with the crankshaft or camshaft pick up sensors. Regards John

I'm working on a 96 suzuki gsxr750 and it has three wires coming from the generator and I need to know how much a.c. voltage its supposed to put out because the charging system isn't working.

any pair of these wires should put out about 40-60 volts AC
measure the resistance between each pair, this should all be the same, and none of the wires should show a reading to earth.
good auto electricians can rewind the stators and rebake them in varnish, but sometimes more economical to get a new or second hand one

My 96 astro doesnt is slow starting when cold.

If you mean in cold weather try a winter blend oil and allow your van to warm up a little 5 minutes before driving.

'96 VW Golf GL with 2.0 motor. Cold start knock

It sounds like the hydraulic lifters are bleeding down after sitting for a while... there are ball checks which are supposed to prevent this... Try using a good engine flush (a product that frees sticky lifters) and replace the oil with a good synthetic... Hope this helps...;-)
