SOURCE: How do i change out the seal around the shifter on a 1999 yz250

Hey Genetuck thanks for the link. You can get that seal out with a small .....yeah , you guessed it a "seal Puller". Don't need to go nowhere near a tyranny removal. 1.Mark in white out or similar a dot on your selector shaft and one on your shifter lever so you can re-install in the correct position once the job is done. 2. Once you have the lever off place the puller hook-end in and up between the shaft and the inner lip of the seal, you want to grab that little ****** so the hook is firmly on the metal of the seal and NOT the engine casing, rest a small block of wood behind the opposite side of the puller and give it a good firm pull.Should come right on out.If not , try opposite side with puller. The same method can be used with any seal and success is also achieved with a small (or large screwdriver).I know you can do it Jerry..Just be patient and be careful not to scratch or damage either the shaft or the casing or yourself for that matter. 3. Get yourself a length of pipe that's long enough to fit over the shaft and just fits inside the engine casing , offer up the new seal with a slight smear of eng oil on the new seal lips, lightly tap the seal into place, fit the bit of pipe over the shaft and hit home the seal so it,s square into the casing recess (no need for hulky hits, just a few light to mediums will be enough)and your done and back on the track.hope i could help you out jerry....Cheers.

My 2003 chevy silverado is leaking transmission fluid between the engine and the transmission what could be the problem thank you

Probably the front seal on the transmission between the input shaft and the torque convertor but it could be the pump seal. Either way, the transmission has to be removed to repair it.

How to change a torque converter seal on a 2003 Chevy cavalier

I believe you want to change transmission input or "front seal". It's a matter of pulling transmission and with a seal puller yank seal out and with malled had small flat punch tap seal back into case. The hardest part is pulling trans.

I have a 2003 YZ250 2 stroke whose rear brakes don't work very well. There doesn't appear to be any leaks, the sight glass is full and the pads don't look worn. Any suggestions?

Have a look at the piston, it might be that it is sticking, needs to be taken out and cleaned.
Get a new seal set and some silicon grease and reassemble it...

They get full of dust and water if the seals are old.

I have a 2003 YZ250. The engine seized up. There

The engine will need a complete overhaul. New bearings throughout, new piston, rings, water pump and a full set of seals. A cylinder bore job or new cylinder also. You are probably looking at $2000 to $2500 for the repairs. A used engine may be a lower cost choice. Google motorcycle salvage yamaha and see what you can find.

2003 yz impeller seal is leaking, do i need to replaice head gaskets thanks ian

I am not sure what you mean by impeller seal so here are a few scenarios:

**Note: Based on YZ250. others may be similar.

-If the gasket around the impeller housing is leaking you can replace that on its own. Open rad cap, drain the coolant using the lower screw with the copper washer behind it. Then remove the other 3 bolts, remove cover, clean mating surface, install new gasket, snug everything up, and replace the coolant.

You don't need to replace the head gaskets unless your leaking from there, or getting coolant in the engine.

The same would apply to your base gasket.

just in case:

-if your transmission/gear oil is milky, your will have to change the oil seals on the impeller shaft.

Where is the front seal on my transmission

The seal is located at the front of trans. It seals the oil going from the torque converter to the front pump in trans.
