Question about 2007 Harley Davidson XL 883 Sportster
2001 sportster doesn't need the seat taken off to get to the battery (unless you have a large seat). On the right side of the battery (toward the rear tire) there is a bolt which goes through a hole in the frame. take the nut off this bolt and you'll see the bolt is attached to a long squareish metal bracket. Take that metal piece off and your battery will pull out. It's heavy for how small it is so make sure you pick UP and pull out, don't just pull it out, the lip of the frame will hold it in.

There should be a bolt at the back of the seat, remove then pull the seat backwards
