Intake gaskets are mor common then head. With head gasket..loss of compression giv poor milage. Do a tune..new plugwires..coil etc. Gut vacuum leaks tu..some hidden. Inspect idle air passage and tps. Find an honest mech at surecritic.com

Major work needed. I don't think you can fix it yourself if you are not a mechanic.

SOURCE: oil pressure drops to 0 at idle

OOO not good sounds like some of the head gasket got stuck somewhere, or the gauge or sender is bad or got knocked around when repairing the head gasket. I would check that first. If that checks out will need to drop the pan to see if something got stuck in the pickup tube, might as well change the pump while you are there. Or worst case some thing wrong with gasket job impeading oil flow back to bottom of the engine. Was the oil and filter changed ?if so pull out filter and see if an chunks are stuck in it now. And change oil and filter again. Sorry that was out of order I had a long day

SOURCE: my monte carlo overheats when idle but no signs of a blown head gasket nor water in oil. the temp gauge will go up to half way then the radiator fans will come on. when i'm driving it will go down to

When the engine is "over heating" are the radiator cooling fans running on high speed?

Has there been any engine work performed on the vehicle lately?

Let me know.

SOURCE: water/oil mixing in 22r engine

yes it can mix, also check the timing cover for rubs from the timing chain. this is the common problem with 22r. many mechanics will tell you its the block but they are just trying to make money.

My 1991 dodge ramcharger idles excessively high. Even after i let it warm up and drive if for awhile. I can sometimes take my foot off the gas and it drives itself about 15-20mph. I know this isnt right....

sounds to me like you have a leak in the intake or a vac line came loose or broken from the intake. if you dont see anything visually then take some carb and choke cleaner and spray around the throttle body and anywhere there is a gasket ,if your idle goes down then you have found your leak.. you can replace the gasket or for a quick fix you can get some gasket maker and lay you a bead where the leak is and this will give you a temp fix..

1997 cadillac head gasket blown

HI, you will know if your gasket(head) is blown if you see white smoke coming form the tail pipe during normal operating conditions like, acceleration and, idle. you may also see smoke coming ou the oil fill cap when you unscrew it after taking a long drive. this is the cause of the coolant mixing with the oil. If this is the case, replace these gaskets before the head are damaged asap.

White smoke coming out tailpipe

If your intake gaskets are leaking, when you dump soapy water on the gasket, it should bubble like crazy ( when it's running). If you can, run it with the rad cap off and watch for bubbles. If it keeps bubbling, you probably have a head gasket problem.
