Question about 2006 Yamaha YZF-R1

1 Answer

My 2006 yamaha r1 bike sounds like a diesel. Just changed the oil filter. Maybe the Primary Driven Gear? Any ideas where to start? I removed the Primary Driven Gear and found out that it has 6 die springs. 4 were under tension and the other 4 were loose. Is that how it's supposed to be?

SOURCE: the dash board lights went out along with the head lights

You have to trace wires coming in and out of headlight, handlebar, fairing assembly, until you find the short. It also could be somewhere around fuse box.

My 2006 r6 starter relay clicks like a dead battery and my bike wont start and my starter just spins my motor wont turn

Hi, Anonymous the starter drive/Bendix/clutch is a mechanical gear driven component that engages the clutch pack ring gear to turn over the engine. It has an internal mechanism that allows the gear to turn in one direction and once the engine starts allows the drive gear to free spin. If gear free spins in both directions then the drive gear has failed, it is not serviceable and needs to be replaced. Can not select neutral on yamaha fazer 1000

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Clutch dragging slightly.
2. Primary chaincase overfilled with lubricant.
3. Corners wore off shifter clutch dogs.
4. Shifter return spring bent or broken.
5. Bent shifter rod.
6. The shift lever is loose on shifter shaft.
7. Shifter forks sprung.
8. Shifter pawl needs adjusting.
9. Heel/toe shifter coming in contact with the floorboard.
10. Transmission oil too heavy.

How many quarts a oil for yamaha r1 03?

HI,,r1 takes aprox 3.8qrt or 4 qrt when changing oil filter,,,,they are known to have a slight problem with oil readings so allways fill the sight window to the top with the bike level,,this avoids the oil light coming on.

Triumph motorcycle cold start noisy

Was it notice able right after the service? It sounds like they didn't get it to oil pressure before starting the engine, doing this can damage the bearings on camshaft and small end. So now it needs more oil pressure to level out the damage to the shells.

How much oil does a yamaha yzf r1 2007 take

"most" bikes on average without filter change take anywhere from 2.8 to 3.0 qts. I always purchase 4 quarts because an extra one will always come in handy in the future anyway. First your bike i believe has a sight gauge... First stand the bike upright on a stand or have someone hold it up for you pour in 2 and 1/2 quarts, put fill cap on, start bike, let warm up for about a minute to let the oil settle, then turn off and then start pouring in slowly till it gets to a little above 3/4 full on the sight gauge...you never want to overfill it could cause engine damage. Now just remember how much oil you put in and that is the approx. amount.

Where is the oil filter on my yamaha V-star 1100

On the right side of the bike (right side when ou are sitting on it) just above the rear brake lever behind a small circular plate. remove the plate and the oil filter is inside (you will easily see it). Warning---on these bikes you have to drop the front exhaust header and right floor board in order to change the oil filter unless you install a after market oil filter relocation kit. If you plan on changing your own oil it is highly recommended to install this relocation kit.
