You have to trace wires coming in and out of headlight, handlebar, fairing assembly, until you find the short. It also could be somewhere around fuse box.

Drain the oil and water. Remove the radiator and exhaust pipes. Remove the oil pan on the bottom of the engine. Remove the bolts holding the water pump/oil pump on.
